I quite liked Belmadi when he first played. Had a decent debut against Southampton (I think).

Mind you, I liked Kenny Carr too. Their other mate. More for his the bloke at Rochdale who announced is name though

Haha.

I always thought his debut was against Fulham when we won 4-1 cause I thought he came in January (then again I thought he scored in that and just checked the stats and he didn't so what do I know!?).

To be fair we did have a lot of creative players at the time and having perhaps 3 in midfield would have been adventurous even by Keegan's standards so maybe he never got enough of a chance to show what he could do.

Fulham rings a bell. It could have been.

Birmingham, 3-0. Ali had a stormer and set two of 'em up.

The image I have in my head of Ali is him being surrounded by players, back to goal, flicking a pass over his shoulder perfectly into SWP's stride. There was no way he could have seen the run. I was at the Birmingham game when he made his debut, chatting to some guys sat near me about him. We saw him warming up and they had no idea who he was. I'd read somewhere that he'd been French footballer of the year twice and mentioned this. After about 5 minutes we all knew how good he was. All you could hear from most of the crowd was "Bloody hell" as he did something spectacular again.
