I was going to put this in the Liverpool thread but it would be lost after a couple of pages and it needs discussing because I'm sick to death of hearing this media claim that is currently the biggest myth in football.

"Alisson Becker, the best goalkeeper in the world"

I'm not just jumping on the bandwagon of yesterday's horror show, but that clearly shows his ball playing ability is dogshit, so I ask on what evidence is this ridiculous claim based? I can hardly remember him making any saves of any consequence, he has only won the Golden Glove once (Joe Hart won it 4 times for God's sake!, with Ederson being the current holder) and his inability to defend his goal when his defence is not impregnable is bang average. Frankly I'd have De Gea over Alisson as he can occasionally save something.

Seriously would any person of sound mind who has seen both keepers play choose Alisson over Ederson?

Nowhere near Eddie. I was surprised that Liverpool forked out £75m for somebody who conceded 7 v them in the CL.

Never mind that, Neuer is the best by several country miles.

Nah,
Alisson is a great keeper but not so good as a sweeper keeper as proven on Sunday.
Ederson is the best sweeper keeper - hell, he could play an outfield role if you wanted him too. Good as a normal keeper but not great.
Neuer is best combined keeper and sweeper keeper in the world.
Horses for courses.

The Golden Glove is one of the most ridiculous awards out there.
Credits a goalkeeper with the most clean sheets and does not account for performance or number of saves.
Liverpool had most clean sheets last season but Allison did not win it as he was injured for part of the season. I read somewhere that so far this season we have conceded the least amount of shots on goal.
Allison is normally preferred to Ederson by Brazil and he is a better keeper than DeGea.
Ederson has improved his decision making and is the best I can recall with his feet and distribution.
Ederson is definitely the more consistent of the two but I wouldn't be writing off Allison purely based on yesterday's performance.
