He's made many important saves, recently two big saves against United in the 0-0 draw, I also remember a stop against Napoli in his first season that saved them from getting knocked out in the group stage. and he's not dogshite with the ball at his feet, not the best but quite good except last night.

And you must be joking when you say you would rather have De Gea, that guy has really been dogshite for over 2 years now, his shot stopping which was his only strength is now shit, his distribution and commanding of the box have always been terrible, he's been one of the worst keepers in the league for quite some time.

And winning the golden glove doesn't mean you're the best goalkeeper, it's based on clean sheets and not on saves, you can keep a clean sheet without having to make a single save.

Yes still. Touch and passing as good as Eddie's with a slightly shorter range, inhuman delivery from his hands and the best shot stopper in football. Also extremely vocal and brilliant at managing his defence.

I was going to put this in the Liverpool thread but it would be lost after a couple of pages and it needs discussing because I'm sick to death of hearing this media claim that is currently the biggest myth in football.

I'm not just jumping on the bandwagon of yesterday's horror show, but that clearly shows his ball playing ability is dogshit, so I ask on what evidence is this ridiculous claim based? I can hardly remember him making any saves of any consequence, he has only won the Golden Glove once (Joe Hart won it 4 times for God's sake!, with Ederson being the current holder) and his inability to defend his goal when his defence is not impregnable is bang average. Frankly I'd have De Gea over Alisson as he can occasionally save something.

Seriously would any person of sound mind who has seen both keepers play choose Alisson over Ederson?

You have jumped onto that bandwagon of letting yourself get wound up by poor sports reporting that is prevalent in this country.

Golden gloves is more a token award for keepers, whilst the reality is it is highly dependent on the defence and keeper.

Finally, the keeper role has evolved and what keeper attributes for one club could be disastrous for another.

I think hes a quality all round keeper. I reckon his shot stopping is better than Eddie's but he is nowhere near as commanding and his distribution is not as good.
All keepers make mistakes, Eddie has made some right howlers. It would be stupid to write Allison off after yesterday. He is a very good all round goalkeeper. He is not like De Gea, who has massive deficiencies in his game, that are easily exploited.
Have seen Eddie gift the Scousers goals in games between us. Yesterday was Allisons turn to drop the clangers.

He's a very good all-rounder no real flaws in his game but not really great at anything. Liverpool fans class him as the best around because their comparison point is karius and mignolet, even Reina, their last decent keeper had a few years of fuck ups towards the end of his stint.

He's nowhere near the quality of the genuine world class keepers but he plays for Liverpool who have a lot of media mouth pieces and dipshit online poll obsessed fans and they paid an absolutely farcical amount for him so all that coupled with being good in a trophy winning team gets him best in the world status.

Dida was very good if not world class. Julio Cesar was top 5 at his peak in a time when Buffon, Cech, Casillas and Van Der Sar were also at their best.
