How did you cope in the 90's? If you were there, then think back. If you were'nt, then let's keep the 90's in mind and get things in perspective.
You know, getting a successful team together and winning championships and cups is very difficult. We are very lucky with our owners, and we are expecting great times ahead, but we will always have disappointments. We will not win everything.
Maybe you should assess your expectations.
We lost, it was a pisser, but let's move on, eh?
There is still plenty to play for this season.
its not that mate.i got on with it straight away.i prefered it in the 90's and even more so in the 80's.Maybe its football in general i'm falling out with in this modern day n age. These days where skysports dominate things, big sam and Harry Redknapp are revered by the powers that be.I spend THOUSANDS and on my beloved blues and can see the way its going.I don't like it[/qu
We are playing Portsmouth on Sunday, and there could'nt be a bigger contrast between clubs if you imagined it.
Money makes the world go round, as they say.
It has been 18 years of Premier League football, started by Sky. I don't know how long the Champions League has been around, but you can bet your bottom dollar the teams that wanted it, the teams that wanted the money, so they could dominate football and rule the world, were the 'big 4'.
Perhaps 10 years ago, maybe it was 15 years ago,the 'big 4' wanted to break up the oldest league structure in the world so they could have all their money and piss on the rest of us.
They went public and PLC, they were happy and arrogant, and the rest of us just made the numbers up.
That was the status quo for years, and nothing was going to upset their cartel. Even now, we have the head of UEFA trying to protect their positions.
I remember watching a game at City a few years ago when Pearce was the manager and I was looking around the stadium and getting depressed because, in my heart, I could never, ever, see Champions League football being played at Eastlands.
I was thinking there really is no point, because we are not going to win anything.
The big 4 only became the big 4 because they were lucky enough to qualify for the first season of Champions League football, and they got their millions every year.
No, my friend, I am pleased as punch we can make a dent in that cosy cartel. I also wish teams like Ipswich and Notts Forrest could be with us as well, like it was years ago, but I can't really see that happening.
Football, and the world, has moved on. Let's remember the happy days of the 'big 4' trying to screw the rest of us into the ground, and suddenly we are where we are.
They don't like it, they are looking at ways of stopping us, and you have spent thousands of pounds watching City over the years with no realistic chance of winning anything.
Now is not the time to throw in the towel.
There has never been a better time to be a City fan.
