All things Jack Grealish

I would think most people believe he’s just a normal lad who’s lived the life most British lads do through their 20s (just with more money): likes a drink, sometimes gets too pissed, but due to who he is sometimes gets snapped by the papps out and about doing it.

Is it what a professional athlete should be doing? No. But does it mean he’s an alcoholic?

Yes and most Brits are too. Haha.

I'm rooting for him. When his commitment starts lacking, then and only then will I say Jack's time with us is done. But i've not seen that yet, what i've seen is a lad who wants desperately to repay us Blues with good performances, but is doubting himself and is his own biggest critic. A Jack Grealish on form has only ever benefitted City, why would we not want that?
If he was not already a City player, would you sign him based on his season at Everton, or last couple seasons before that?

Of course not.

Also I just have to say, I love Jack as a personality, but not sure how ‘committed’ he is to be constantly out binge drinking whilst he’s supposed to be recovering from injury? He’s not professional.

We all like a drink but we’re not professional sports people, entrusted with massive wages and expectations.

If he stays at City next season it’s because absolutely nobody wants to sign him, because he hasn’t performed for Everton or City in 2/3 years and his off the field antics and attitude towards injury recovery will put off any club paying his humongous wages.

Really like the fella but that’s the reality mate.

Yes.

That's put a spanner in your works, hasn't it.

The chapter on Jack Grealish is closed, and I see no benefit in his return at the moment.
Jack will be useful to have around for the pre-season tour games while we wait for players back from the World Cup, then let's see if Everton have got the money, or just come in with a very cheeky offer.

Look at him. Look! He's one of us. He found his home at City. City 'til we die, right? Or are we now City until your usefulness has run it's course? We should be rallying around him, helping him get better. You can talk about Jack's ability, but one thing you can never doubt him on was effort.

I'm not giving up on the lad just yet, not when you can clearly see what us and this club means to him. A fresh spell at Everton and look what he did for them. He loves his football, but he's a confidence player. Confidence is up, given free reign and you can see he's got it. Stuck in a formation, playing a 'role' and it stifles him. I think of a fit Foden and Grealish roaming behind Haaland and I see potential.

I'll be rooting for him too although I can't imagine Maresca will give him a free reign. Even Cherki will have to earn that privilege. Jack was probably at the right club last season. I will always be grateful for what he did for us and for that iconic photo. A wonderful human being.

I love grealish although I’ve never thought he’s good enough to play for us I find him so endearing…I’d like to think I’m not “soft” but when I see the videos of him greeting kids and especially disabled fans brings a tear to my eye and when you see him pissed up it reminds me of why I loved Ricky Hatton…you’ve got this normal lad living your dream, whether that be a premiership footballer or world champion boxer and they like a drink.I went to a lot Ricky’s fights and you’d watch him fight for a title at the arena on a Saturday and wouldn’t be surprised to bump into him in your local the next day.

See both sides tbh. However, I can't help but feel if we'd had him away at Everton or any of the other matches where we've looked overwhelmed and under the cosh, would we have gotten a better result? He does win you free kicks, breaks up the opponents rhythm and the ball sticks to him, which has been an issue this season.

Does that alone justify bringing him back onto the fold? Possibly not, but his skillset is one we do currently lack in the side.

Isn't he one of the top players for winning free kicks? I feel sorry for him, to be honest. He's nearly always stuck out wide, which isn't his best position. Ideally, he'd play in the 10 position. But he's at the back of queue for that gig. I can't see him playing again for us, unless Maresca wants to give him a chance. Which I think is unlikely.

His every move when has the ball on the left ends up with a back pass. We need more than that.
Agreed. We have Doku, Semenyu and Erl with the pace to break forward quickly. We don’t need Jack to slow us down. And the question is where would he play anyway?

If he was capable of playing as a 10 I reckon he’d have been tried there consistently by now considering he’s 30 years old.

I think he would be capable. Clearly, you (and Pep) think otherwise. So be it.
Fair enough but also the opinion of all his managers at Villa plus Moyes and Southgate for England.

I don’t see that he has a final ball in him personally. When he did drift centrally he’d just go sideways till he won a foul.

I have missed the stroll, close to the left touchline, the shimmy, then pass it back to the left back, or 5 yards inside horizontally to a midfielder. I fully realise people in this country have short memories, in the main. They repeatedly vote Tories and Labour back into power. For the money, this likable lad didn't score or assist to many during his tenure. From memory, he had 4 or 5 good weeks towards the end of the Treble season. Not for me.

Hes going arsenal then!!

That photo truly is iconic.
Love Jack to bits and that time was really special.
Can't go back though. Not with Jack anyway. However, he really earned everything he got that season.
