All things Jack Grealish

Has he done much aside from an early few decent games to warrant them even considering it, 30 years old he’s unlikely to get any better
He seemed to be playing well enough for them before his injury. He's not getting a national team callup anytime soon and Everton may not qualify for a European competition place, so less games for him to play and possibly pick up a muscle injury which he's regularly been picking up in the last couple years.

The 50M fee was never going to happen, but I think City will gladly take 20-25M which Everton may take the chance on.

Only because I haven't name-dropped Bill Gates. I really miss those nights with my London Blue mates.
I did meet Bill Gates.
Sat beside him in the canteen (really a restaurant) when I was in their Seattle HQ, probably 30 years ago now. Came across him a few times and he seemed a normal enough fella
Worried now that I may appear in those Epstein files.

fingers crossed

100%. Just glad that they had had enough last season and fired him out of a canon before the CWC. With Everton covering his wages at least he's not pissing City's money up the wall. Remarkable that with sports science as advanced as it is you still have luddites who think there's no correlation between repeated injuries and being a weekly drunk.
Maybe he just needs to even it out with gear like Maradona. Wouldn’t be falling asleep anymore anyway.

Everton knew what they were getting when they took him on loan. Don’t think this most recent instance would put them off entirely. If anything, it probably knocks his transfer fee down some but I don’t think City would be too bothered since the priority is just getting him out.
I was thinking the same mate. Another £10m off the price.

I played football until 38. I can very much remember slowing down so much between the ages of 16 and 19 that I had to change position away from being a speedy winger - funnily enough when I discovered the sauce. There will be thousands of lads who are the same. Difference is I played dog standard football and wasn't a professional athlete

His wages could be a stumbling block.

No idea but if he wants to go to Everton or anywhere else on a permanent deal he will have to take a huge wage cut i would imagine.
Saw this on The Athletic. Not sure how accurate it is.

"It appears that while the Everton board may not be paying all of the 29-year-old’s hefty wages, they will in fact be committing to a significant chunk of it, while retaining the option to sign the player in full for £50 million.

The report reveals that Everton will cover around three-quarters of Jack Grealish’s £300,000 a week salary, with City including a £50 million purchase option in the deal, which could still be negotiated should Everton want to make it permanent next summer"

He clearly has a drinking problem. I find it astonishing that anyone would dispute that, but then this country has a fucked up perspective on alcohol.

No sportsman at that level, in 2026, injured or not, should be passing out in a bar, given how much clubs, and fans, invest in them. Yes, it's a life that requires a lot of sacrifice, but there are plenty of folk lining up to take your place if you choose to piss your chances away.

And although he's a lovely lad and a great talent, he's also clearly a bit simple, or else his judgement or sense of perspective have just completely gone - a) it's not rocket science to know your reputation will take a hit if you pass out in a bar mid-afternoon b) what kind of people is he mates with? c) does he really think his employer has no views on this?

He's an alcoholic. He'll either sort his life out or kill himself. I hope it's the former. Good luck to him because he seems like a lovely lad, but any hopes I have for him are as a human being, and for his family, not as a city player, because that ship has long sailed

How on earth can you seriously say that he has pissed his chances away. In 4 years He won more English league titles than George Best, Stephen Gerrard, Harry Kane & Gazza combined! He won 7 trophies in 4 seasons. I'd be surprised if there was a current PL player (who hasn't played for City) who can match that. yet you think he has wasted his chances!

How is he clearly an alcoholic? Seriously mate do you know when he last had a drink before them pictures? because I don't? How often does he drink at home? What if he was spiked? Pep did have a view on it! You have no evidence that he is an alcoholic so stop being dramatic.

I find it amazing how, you know all about his lifestyle, his drinking habits and what is best for him and family, without ever meeting him!

The guy was unplayable when we won the treble FFS he played 50 out of 61 games. Yet you call him an alcoholic was of talent!

Mind boggling some of the nonsense on this thread - the AI deep fake conspiracy theory winning the award for most ridiculous post of the year!

No idea why anybody would try to defend him. He’s paid £15m a year and the only thing he needed to avoid is to be caught pissed up in public yet again. He can’t help himself.

If anybody is unsure read Laporte’s interview this weekend where he explains how well City look after players. Yet he still managed to fuck everything up at City - and has again whilst on loan at Everton.

He’s not a young man. He’s 31 in 4 months and probably only has a year or two left on his career as he will find out piss heads don’t have a long career into their mid 30s.

We won’t be able to give him away in the Summer. A £100m that we can’t give an away for nothing.

Loveable rogue but has tossed off his career.
Who has he been caught by mate? Pep wasn't arsed when asked, in fact he praised him.

Also Everton pay 80% of his wages and still want to sign him despite his injury!

Everton and City both made a point of letting him on the pitch before KO on Monday night, to talk to the City squad (whilst being filmed on Sky). He then went and sat with the Everton staff behind their dug out. That is both clubs making a statement and letting the Media know it's been dealt with. Make no mistake he will have been absolutely roasted by Moyes, not before him and Pep decided who was good/bad cop! Either way its dealt with in house, and only the 3 of them will know what was said. Fergie used to do the same! Bollock his players in private, then praise them in public!

Also, how the fuck did Laporte fuck everything up at City, he won 13 trophies (including 5 leagues in 6 season)? Only 8 clubs in history have won more league titles than Laporte did in 6 season, 1 cub in history have won the same number as Trebles as him and not one club has won 4 in row like him! (he has won more leagues, than Newcastle, Leeds, Spurs and Forest have managed ever) Why say he fucked everything up at City? On average he won a trophy every 13 games he played!

Sad we will never know how he would have done as our 10, but he bagged v the rags , le arse and the dippers, something we would all give up our first newborn for
Good job we have already seen it then! Theres not one wide player in this current squad who even comes close to Grelish's consistency in our Treble season! he played 50 out of 61 games, yet get no praise!

It's a bit of an open secret that the reason the club were desperate for him to be gone last summer was the levels of unprofessionalism he had shown in the previous 12 months. This included turning up in terrible states to training, being a terrible example for the younger players around the CFA. Just generally being a bit of a dickhead, albeit a lovable one. Ultimately City is a place of work, not a country club where you go to have a good time.

I suggest you do look up what he does for families suffering with child disabilities and what it means to him before calling him 'generally a bit of a dick head'!

If only people would look up what he has done for charity, rather that slag the bloke off! They would be so much more happy in life!!

Nobody would or has questioned that. Everyone knows what Jack does and the type of person he is where charity and being a good human being is concerned. That doesn’t mean he can’t also be a dickhead whilst at work. If he is turning up in a state, not being a good example to the youngsters and what not, that is being a dickhead at work.

I’ll stick up for the kid more than anyone, but where work comes, and that’s what it is - work - there has to be utter professionalism.

I wonder - would he have taken to the bottle as much as reported had Pep played him in a more midfield role giving him more game time and less time for "remorse". I never thought of him as a winger and to my way of thinking was wasted out there.

As other posters have said he has displayed an amazing caring personality away from the game - and booze.
