How have you viewed var in its first season, and do you think city are better or worse off for it, points wise? What needs to change?
Some may say that inadequate player recruitment has been our main downfall in this past decade in failing to securing even more silverware, which otherwise has to be regarded as a city dominant decade, at least domestically. Whilst every transfer has risk, how confident are you that we will get our recruitment right this time, when we are seemingly playing catch up and must close the gap?
Phil Foden has showcased that our academy, and indeed local lads from the Manchester area, can be good enough. Sancho is currently attracting plaudits for his displays in Germany and being talked about as a £100m+ player. Brahim Diaz is a Real player, Garcia and Angelino are being pushed as a Barcelona targets. We must have the quality, or be close, with our youth setup, but does the chase for silverware in fact hinder chances for our younger players in the first team, with coaches preferring established experienced players, and is this an area we will commit to improve on? Are we going to lose more young talent because we can't integrate them into our first team fast enough? Granted this is also a way for the club to develop assets and sell on, and things just sometimes don't work out, but it would also be fair to say that, in terms of making its mark on the first team, the academy hasn't yet blossomed.
