For a club of our supposed stature and success, we don't half look unprepared at times. That said, the club have been out maneuvered, easily done at the price offered I suppose, but the money is a consolation, granted. Just disappointed Mate. I think this makes sense for the player and the club, but we need to re-invest some of the money for a decent understudy to Rodri. i think with Foden, Bobb and others we can probably manage without a direct replacement for Alvarez.

It’s great. Every time I saw Alvarez on the team sheet last season (alongside Haaland) I just knew our attack was going to be stunted. He was a good back up to Haaland but a terrible ten. But Pep always wanted him to have his game time.Must be lovely.

I think he’s underrated by a few commenters here. Alvarez would start ahead of most PL strikers so I can see why he’d be up for the move, especially to Spain & to Simeone. We got a great fee so can’t complain.

Will be interesting to see if we get a replacement. Wouldn’t be surprised if we went back to false 9 if the big man needs a break. Bobb, Savinho coming off the wing, Foden inbetween the lines - could be awesome
