I was gutted at the time but looks a decent deal now
The grass isn't always greener....
Strange choice of club for Alvarez, Unless it with the Simeone factor with him being an Argentine.Does that indicate that not eveything going swimmingly at Atleti ?
Big price on his head, with big expectations, and a team that doesn't play progressively. Seemed a strange club to persue him imo.

Feels a bit like when Felix left Benfica to go to Atleti, A flare player joining a team well known for defensive displays and tye dark arts.
I'm not saying Alvarez is a flare player but he's an out and out centre forward that will get very little service at Atleti.

Agreed 100%. Julian's been there for less than a hot minute. He needs the chance to settle & find his feet. He's a top player & I'm sure he'll work his balls off to try & make a success of his move.I don’t think it’s an odd move, Atletico are famous for making stars out of strikers. Torres, Forlan, Aguero, Costa, Falcao, Griezmann, Villa (didn’t make his name there but had an unexpected late resurgence)
Alvarez has all the talent to become one of those, you just have to go through some hard yards and sacrifice yourself for the team with Simeone.
Give him 18 months to adapt to the new team, Spanish football etc. and things will probably look very different,

His first touch was horrible - it used to kill me insideI wasn’t at all sad when he left (he’s a good striker but was often being played at ten and killing our attacks when played out of position there) but I hope his situation improves there. He always gave his all (often too much when tracking back and giving away silly free kicks in our third) and I wish him well still.
Balotelli was a flare player.I'm not saying Alvarez is a flare player but he's an out and out centre forward that will get very little service at Atleti.
Christ looks like he's nicked his dad's suit when he was 6Mason Mount is also a flare player.

You'll have to explain that one to the younger audience pmsl (my first Vauxhall Nova was that colour unfortunately)It’s camouflage gear for when you’re sitting in a Vauxhall Viva.

It wasn't always like that, but things started to turn progressively worse each game after KdB and Haaland came back fully fit from their injuries, up until that point i think his first touch was pretty decent. His first touch was horrible - it used to kill me inside
We had a similarly coloured Ford Fiesta growing up. It rattled when it hit 60mph on the motorway! You'll have to explain that one to the younger audience pmsl (my first Vauxhall Nova was that colour unfortunately)
All that money and oh deary me…Mason Mount is also a flare player.
