Interesting documentary about how the US planned war on Great Britain. I don't know whether its a credible source, but was an interesting watch. Thoughts?

This isn't anything to be shocked about, the military and Government often plan in detail for this type of thing.

Think we have an official military strategy for an alien invasion if memory serves

American Generals were thinking hypothetically about British invasion through Canada in the 1920s. Came up with a plan to use naval blockades to cut off the British Isles and fight a land war on the Canadian border. Wasn't a serious concern at the time.

There is a prevailing view that the main motivation behind Partition in 1921 was not the wishes of Ulster Unionists, but rather the retention of territory to the west of Great Britain to serve as a deterrent and tactical instrument against the threat of an invasion to the 'mainland' via the island of Ireland.

The naval war? Britian would, we were the global super power at the time. Although IIRC the Americans had at this time realised the potential of a carrier fleet although they were still a couple of decades away from having the capacity to demonstrate it.

Is there one for a zombie invasion too? If not, there really ought to be.

There is actually, yes.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.businessinsider.com/freedom-of-information-request-reveals-british-governments-plans-for-a-zombie-outbreak-2012-12" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.businessinsider.com/freedom- ... ak-2012-12</a>

And the US version:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/10831616/US-draws-up-plans-to-fight-off-zombie-invasion.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... asion.html</a>

You can read the US plan here:

Indeed, there was talk of Northern Ireland as being of strategic importance right up until the end of the cold war. I'd wager Westminister would be rid of Ulster tomorrow if they could. A different discussion though....

That's an interesting thought and makes a lot of sense.
