Planning on a 3 day trip to Amsterdam for my birthday in May for 6 of us we'll be setting off on the 30th and coming back on the 2nd...

Has anyone got any Hotels they would recommend I've seen one for £184pp, 2 rooms bed and breakfast at the Blue Tower flying with EasyJet?? Seems pretty fancy but a mission from the centre (45 min walk)... I had a look at some closer to the town centre and they're like dormitories so didn't sound too appealing but I've never been before so I don't know whats best thing to go for...

As long as it's relatively cheap!!

Find a hotel with a dorm for 6 beds. That's all you need, 3 bunk beds - you'll be wrecked most of the time and simply want a bed for crashing on. Why pay the extra for fancy TV's, balcony etc etc when all you will do in that room is sleep! You really think you will be up in time for breakfast? Shower and toilet down the corridor. Cheap as chips and everything will be on your doorstep.

If the smallest room is for 8 beds, pay the extra between you and take it. Still worth it and no one else will be able to be in the room sharing with you and going through your stuff whilst you are out getting wrecked.

Enjoy.

The trams are every 5 minutes to the city centre from surrounding areas so dont worry about the walk, its cheap and very efficient

This^^^^^ all day long, you need to be in the centre to get the most out of your 3 days, trains and trams don't run all night!

look up the botel for central location twin rooms cheap as chips. and if there are 4-6 of you then look at an apartment instead <a class="postlink" href="http://www.amsterdamescape.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.amsterdamescape.com/</a>

184 pp is mighty steep but depends when u are planning to go. Within 2 weeks then id say its a good deal. However if u are planning in advance u better off booking it in peices.

Try hotels.nl or booking.com, they both usually have cheap deals.

And as one other poster stated, ur better off getting somewhere near central station. Trams do run till midnight, but after u have to rely on night buses which operate on an hourly basis.

Holy sh&t blue tower is 5 minutes from me lol

Alot of tourists stay at that hotel cos its relatively cheap. But if u plan to stay out all night then Id recomm staying somewhere nearer. U dont want to walk from that hotel to centraal. Its slightly far. Having said that there are many buses operating from centraal to this hotel, number 15, 21, trams 7 and 14.

try this hotel, perfect situation. 5/10 min easy walk to dam square. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.alphotel.nl/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.alphotel.nl/</a>

pm if u need any more info.

Die port van cleve, right in the center, we booked it through the bureau of information it cost us about £35 a night each, very nice hotel too.

I'd recommend the Sunhead: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.sunhead.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.sunhead.com/</a>

It's a fairly cheap and cheerful B&B and Carlos the landlord is pure entertainment.
