An Idiot Abroad 2: The Bucket List

He isn't funny anymore.

Karl is at his absolute innoncent best when he doesn't understand why he is funny- ie the early XFM shows. Plus, I liked it when it was 'my' thing. Even when the podcast had huge amounts of downloads, he was still a cult following that not many knew about. Now, every man and his dog has heard of KP.

He used to be cool man!

Haha kinda get where you're coming from...It's a bit annoying when people try and tell you something he's said or done like it's new, when really I listened to it years ago or even read it in one of his books like 'Happyslapped by a jellyfish'

So he's not funny anymore because more people like him that when you had a perceived exclusivity on liking him?

I just don't get that at all.

For me, he sometimes tries to be funny which doesn't suit him if that makes any sense. Anyway, I didn't think much of the first series for that reason, but last night I thought was very funny in parts.

No. He is not funny anymore because all new material RSK produce is Karl being confident in his own opinions. All the new audiobooks are 90% him moaning and ranting. Typical audiobook conversation nowadays-

Karl: I bloody hate charities. Always asking for money!
RS: Laugh!!!

Karl: I bloody hate busy cities! Too crowded!
RS: Laugh!!!!!!!

Karl: I bloody hate new inventions! We have everything we need now!
RS: Laugh!!!!!!!!

The audiobooks/podcasts used to consist of listening to a Manc being confused about the world and everything in it. Nowadays, I'm paying to listen to a Manc moan and winge for an hour. I get that enough at home!

it s funny.... but folk i know say it is annoying that this prick is in all those places which we would all love to be at. it can be funny and inspiring .... karl just about does one of these!

as for the other 2 clowns.... never was mad about them!

I didnt mind it when I watched it there is only so far they can go before it will get shit. Thats were Gervais and Merchant come in they know when to call it a day on there shows. They have a knack that whatever they are apart of it is normally a money making earner for them. I cant knock them and I cant wait for lifes too short.

For an album that will probably let you down. But it doesnt even matter coz' you dont like that band anymore coz' theyre not underground.

The XFM stuff is hilarious, so are the podcasts. Been listening to these for years.

I agree that he does try a bit too hard to be a non-conformist in this at times. I actually said when he moaned about flying over the volcanoes that nobody could be that ungrateful. It was breathtaking.

However the stuff about them being a great place to lose old mattresses and every street should have one was priceless.

I keep saying I will buy his book as I imagine that would be an amusing read.

To be honest, if you've heard all the XFM stuff then the TV show and books are basically just edited highlights.

I got the book as a present and it's a decent read but no new material as such.
