an interesting discussion...

Nothing that the Goat didn't do a few years back.

Anyone willing to start slagging him off?

Nothing wrong with the rule as it is. I would expect 99% of footballers to do the exact same and I would be pissed off with the other 1% if it included a City player simply letting the ball go in.

Ghana only have themselves to blame, if he had scored the pen nobody would say anything but because he ballooned it Suarez is a cheating twat who should be burned at the stake. He took on for the team and took his punishment as outlined in the rules of the game!

With all this talk of justice, has anyone mentioned the fact that the free kick that led to the Ghana penalty was never a free kick and was actually the result of a laughable dive? Seems to me that justice was done in the end.

just been speaking to a friend of mine about the Ghana Uruguay match

he thinks the situation that led to the penalty at the end of extra time was a 'farce' and that a rule change should be made to allow a goal to be given when the ball is deliberately prevented from going in by a handball on the line

i can see where he is coming from, not that i agree with him, and we have had a long and heated discussion about why this rule change would be bad/good and why it should/should not be implemented

i was just wondering what the rest of you thought?
cheatin bastards should be chucked out of the fuckin tournament if you ask me, ghana should be in the semi-final, imagine if uruguay go on to lift the world cup now......it's an absolute fuckin disgrace. what pisses me off is these fifa fair play banners and shit they have carried out before games.....lets see some justice for fair play then fifa and reinstate ghana and kick the cheating bastards out and ban them from the next world cup.

Would you want the same for fouls as well, after all, that is cheating too.
Might as well go the whole hog and just draw lots for the winner before every game.
Ghana had the chance to win it in the last minute but the player shat himself and couldn't even hit the target.
The Uruguayan took one for the team, if Kompany did the same and we went on to win a cup then i'd love him for evermore.

Exactly. The rules are in place.
Diving is a form of cheating, that is actively trying to con the referee. Suarez did not cheat, he exploited the rules. He also showed 'win at all costs' attitude which is admired in lots of countries. But here we'll always prefer to be 'honourable' losers.
I'm just royally pissed off because I had him for the golden boot at 66/1!

No-one would have done any different. He had the chance to possibly save his team and he did.

Plus Ghana were diving all over the place for most of the game. And as for Paintsil calling him a cheat, well...
