An Open Letter to the Players

Lads.

Most of you, in fact none of you were born in 1981 so you may not know about the F.A. Cup Centenary Final that year so please allow me to quickly fill you in with some details. We played Tottingham and drew after a very unlucky own goal by Tommy Hutchinson, consequently we lost the replay. Since then we have been constantly reminded of Ricky bas*ard Villa's winning goal at every conceivable moment. No doubt they will show it again next Wednesady night but lads, YOU have the chance to erase that painful memory. YOU have the chance to rid me and fellow Blues of our demons. Do it for US. Send the cockerknee wideboys back to the smoke with their jellied eels between their legs. This is the first opportunity City have had to hurt them on a big occassion since then so please do it for us.

i was born a week before that final and was going to be named after the wining goal scorer for city so i was nearly called tommy but nothing has gone right since then so please please win this game just turned 29 so it is a couple of days after so hopefully it will be 29 years of glory now!!!1

I was born on the day we lost the replay and Villa scored "that" goal. Obviously I get the blame for this and the fact we have won nothing since. Come on City rid me of this jinx tag!

I was working in Northampton in those days and managed to get a ticket for the FA Cup Final, which we deserved to win. I missed the replay, which was dominated by two Argentinians. Hopefully that latter scenario will be repeated on Wednesday. Goals for Tevez and Zabaleta!
