And so it begins...

Not saying this will happen, but just chucking it out there, IF we signed Barkley means we have to sell to buy. Everyone has flogged to death players who could be sold but no one has even mentioned our old friend Dzeko. In last year of contract same as Milner, good return of goals from last season, if we were to raise say 25m on him, 15m on Nastisic and a further 15m for Milner that would surely be enough to cover any signing of Barkley. If Real Madrid want a sale on Isco and from what I have seen around 25m then the likes of Guidetti, 6m, Richards, Garcia and Rodwell plus anything over from the other sales might just do the job.

Garcia to be sold to get Mangala a squad place
Milner to be sold to get Barkley a squad place
Dzeko sold to get Isco a squad place.

Means we are going with three main strikers but Isco plays the Nos 10 role anyway and therefore we would still have four strikers.

Personally Dzeko scored some extremely important goals for us last year and I would be hesitant to see him leave. But if we are going for this overhaul and given the club seem to be ruling out sales for Jovetic and Aguero and Negredo confirming he wants to stay it seem logical Dzeko still might be the one sold. (Having written this no doubt he will sign a new contract).

Where does it say we are selling Dzeko?!

Are we fuck selling him..for Isco?!

That's laughable

I agree,Dzeko has to be kept.He has developed into our only reliable striker.

Isco will be at the expense of Milner and/or Garcia, not a centre forward.

In a purely football sense I agree, but considering the injuries we suffered last season which gave Dzeko the opportunity of more regular football I'd also be hesitant to let him go purely because he scores goals albeit he's not as technically gifted as those around him at this level.

The fact he still hasn't signed an extension to his contract is also a worry because it weakens our position considerably. I honestly think we'd have a happier squad if all the reserve players were sold and replaced by first team challengers like Kolorov/Clichy. We'd have a smaller squad but one of better quality who would all play at least one match per week as part of squad rotation. The situation with Zab & Micah should not be allowed to happen again.

Any players we have should be good enough to step into the first team on a regular basis, & if they're not good enough they should be sold and replaced by players who can.

despite the fact that he's no good we have to keep nastatic, he's one of those that given time and vinny to learn from he could develop in to a good player. if a silly bid comes then we'll have another look at it.

we must keep edin. sorry haters but he's a match winner.

jimmy too has to stay. only deal worth having is to involve barkley. as a last resort. could use rodwell, not in our bracket I'm afraid. never was.

While I can see the logic of Rammy's suggestion re Dzeko, the reality is that he carried us in the second half of the season. Kun and Jovetic are unpredictable because of their injuries, and the beast remains an unknown quantity as to whether he is going to return to form. One of the great bonuses of Dzeko is that he seems to never get injured.

In other words we can't afford to let him go, and i recall Tolm saying some time ago that he expected Dzeko to renew his contract. I for one sincerely hope he does renew his contract.

On the other issue of Corky masquerading as PV, i fail to see the pleasure he derives from stirring the pot and thereby causing angst to fellow Blues. I suppose it's a funny old world and it takes all types to make up that world.
