As a bit of light relief, I've got very fond memories of Andorra. I went travelling round Europe at the age of 18 in 1972. After ending up in the Bordeaux region grape picking to earn some cash to continue I hitchhiked to Spain in the October but ended up being dropped off in the mountains near Andorra after dark. It was high up in the Pyrenees and it was freezing. After a while I realised that there was no traffic and that I could freeze to death overnight so I considered starting to walk down to warmer temperatures. At that point a van came towards me and stopped to let me in. I had never felt so relieved.
The guy driving it was a carpet seller travelling back from France and he took me back to his families flat in Andorra. I stayed two nights and his family were amazing. On the day I was leaving they just said lock the door when you leave and they all went off to work and school.
