Andrea Cambiaso

Call me old fashioned but if he's left footed I hope he plays at left back.

Can understand playing on the 'wrong' side for wingers but not defenders.

It's more common than you think for players seen as all time great left backs to be right footed...

I saw a list about a decade back detailing the best left backs of all time without too much recency bias and very in depth, it was the best 25 or 30 left backs ever and I was astonished to find out only about 5 were actually left footed.

I'm sure all of these are actually naturally right footed.

Paulo Maldini
Nilton Santos
Paul Breitner
Giacinto Fachetti
Ruud Krol
Andreas Brehme
Bixente Lizarazu
Karl-Heinz Schnellinger

(Might be mixing someone else up with Nilton Santos and know I've missed out quite a few greats but I'm sure the article said, that Nilton Santos was actually naturally right footed despite being able to deliver perfect left footed crosses)

Plus

Javier Zanetti
Phillipp Lahm
Gianluca Zambrotta

These are just a few in the last 20 years who were recognised as being amongst the very best left backs, whenever deployed there even if they were definitely stronger on the other side of defence.

Maldini was originally a right footed right back but shifted out to left back, due to Mauro Tassotti being Milan's first choice right back and already seen as one of the best.

We've had both Gael Clichy and Cancelo who are both naturally right footed as left backs while playing here, plus whether our fans believe it's true or not Cancelo was seen as the world's best left back for at least a season.

Cancelo was but Clichy was left footed.

Clichy was actually "naturally" right footed when he was younger.
Yeah heard that but not having it. Same shite got said about the family man.Can become 2 footed but no chance to the point your strong foot becomes just for standing on. Either way he was all left foot when he played left back for us!

Clichy was definitely naturally right footed his dad forced him to use his left foot very early on, until he was extremely competent at using it for passing but even though he seemed left footed when passing comfortably, the thing to remember is if he had shooting opportunities he'd predominantly use his right foot whenever possible.

There was a few times he had some good chances to shoot with his left, he still chose to cut inside to shoot on his favoured right foot instead.

He didn't shoot often but when he did he very rarely despite training his left foot shot with it, most the time if he knew he had to shoot he'd bring it back onto his stronger right foot.

He was right footed mate. That poster didn’t just hear it, it’s absolutely everywhere that he was naturally right footed and his father forced him to use his left.

Still can’t get my head around it! It’s irrelevant anyway because he was left footed during his career. Not a Dennis Irwin type who was 2 footed so could play either side

You forgot about Brandon Williams

Juve are buying a lot of defenders currently? This is still on imo
I really Hope so
We have too many players in makeshift positions at the moment
We effectively don’t have anyone who is competent to play at right back.
Left back is just about ok at the moment but not far off
It’s a disgrace really

Gotta be this hasnt it mate? They are skint but already bought a RB and now in the market for 2 more defenders? No way they are shopping unless they are selling imo.
I think they sell because I think we’ll pay what if takes
Walker is off (thank god) and
If we play Rico/Nunes till the end of the season we’re fucked against the better teams

We need to sign him mate, RB is a problem as Walker is going and with a shorter period for us in the summer then we should push as many in now imo. Feb is a BRUTAL month for us as well so drastically improving the squad could see us winning games we 3-4 weeks ago would defo being losing.

That's the feeling I have but also lots of reports /speculation that we are waiting until summer for Cambiaso, or is that Txiki playing hard ball?

I would imagine the Luiz/Cambaiso deals will be linked and City don't want an obligation to buy on Luiz and hence Juve aren't happy.

we`ll find a way to do both mate if Pep is happy with Luiz coming in.
