Andrea Cambiaso

We are supposed to be aiming to win the league and CL, each season. Its all well and good to say Real Madrid and Barcelona are unique, but they are the clubs we measure up against these days, not Villa , rags. Spuds, or gooners.
We have acted so slowly in the last 4 windows it's potentially fucked this season and if we miss out on CL for next season, fucked that as well.

No we don’t, not when we’ll most likely only play 1, as we have for the last few years. Don’t even have room in the squad for 4-

Yes we do, this season has shown that we need quality at full back. We have had to play a midfielder at right back, or center half. We had two keepers on the bench PSG. The of quality at full back on both sides stretches our midfield everytime we are attacked. There's no overlap when we attack and without quality at full back our defence is streched apart.
What we've done is a gauge of how poor things can go if you stand still.
We.need 4 full backs 2 already at the level we should expect and 2 that are likely to achieve that level.

Pep will have more than enough toys to fit this back 4 into 3 system with Cambiaso. Very much doubt we get a raft of FBs in at all. Be lucky to see one more depending on Rico.

We've literally got nothing right since the treble…
You sound like spoilt a child.

We won a fourth consecutive title 6 months ago. A feat never achieved in over 150 years of English football history

It’s literally the greatest achievement our club has ever had!

We have had the worst injury crisis I can remember since supporting this club for over 40 years, which has coincided with a drop of of some of our greatest ever players.

Our club in emphatically run. We have just signed the two best young CB in the World, and the most in form Striker in Europe.

Go and sit in the corner ffs

We do but pep won’t and doesn’t change his tactics anyways. He will tell us that football is heading into a new era with transition football being at the top but we will continue playing with 3-4 CB every game. I just realized that the reason why the numbers of our wingers have dropped is the constant 1vs2 they have. As you mentioned no overlapping and clogged center. Expecting wingers who always have to go against 2 defenders alone to score 15+ is outrageous. Cambiasso should be a start but who knows what Pep is planning. In the end he might end up being our CDM.

Say that again a bit more slowly

If 3 at the back with wingbacks is the intermediate solution, with a view to getting midfielders in summer, then I can get behind it. Would provide defensive security and mitigate some of the failings of current midfielders. 3 CBs, Gvardiol LWB, Cambiaso RWB is pretty pretty good

wont be wing backs either imo. It'll still be wingers one full back will be out wide either allowing LW or RW to be a 10.

and vice versa, Dont see Pep giving up the centre of the park to get 5 defenders playing. Cambiaso inverts or wide as about to make a 3-2-4-1 again. Get Foden or Marmoush into the middle, just need to get a better 8 that drops to double pivot (when the FB is outside). Lots of options but dont see WBs being one of them

Hmmm, I think you're right that he won't but not why. I'd say that Pep has unfortunately repeatedly given up the centre: most recently, PSG have played false 9 a lot of the season, overloading the centre and we not only set up to leave only Bernie & Kovacic in the centre, Pep didn't adapt at all to challenge the centre. He's adapted, in his own way, to try to bypass the centre and hope that a front 4 will win the game.

I think he won't do wingbacks because of the loyalty he has to the players and his desire to play his formation. Although I'd say, if we get Cambiaso we could effectively play wingbacks (like he wanted with Mendy & Walker), with greater versatility & fluidity in formations, with the proviso of not getting midfielders in Jan. At the very least, Cambiaso gives a lot of options and would raise the floor of the squad

Don’t think we have the legs to play the system either. Need at least another box to box I there and josko isn’t an up and down wide player anyway, savio at LWB at a push,
