Apologies if already posted but could this 24yo Italian be the answer to our need for central defensive cover?

I really don't know if he is the answer but i know he scores a lot of OWN goals.

He only got 8 league appearances for struggling Inter last season, has yet to live up to his hype as he was supposed to be one of the next great defenders in Italy. Maybe Mancini would help him but it could as easily turn out to be another Savic as he's very mistake prone.

MANCHESTER CITY will be offered defender Andrea Ranocchia as part of Inter Milan’s bid to land Aleksandar Kolarov.

City boss Roberto Mancini has a new centre-back on his wanted list this summer with doubts over Kolo Toure and Stefan Savic in the long-term.

And he is a long-standing fan of Italy international Ranocchia, 24, who cost the Serie A club around £16million since he arrived from Genoa two years ago.

Inter are keen to beat off Juventus to land Kolarov who has indicated he wants to play more regular first team football.

He has fallen behind Gael Clichy in the pecking order at the Etihad as doubts remain about the defensive side to the left-back’s game.

City are in no rush to sell but will listen to offers and the prospect of a swap deal could appeal with the champions looking to comply with Financial fair play restrictions.

Sources at the San Siro say some dialogue has taken place over a possible exchange — but there are still issues to be resolved.

Mancini must decide whether Ranocchia is a suitable stand-in for his first choice pairing of Vincent Kompany and Joleon Lescott.

I honestly think we have a quality CB in Micah, when he moved to the middle for a few games he looked brilliant, so why not just use Micah as a backup there and play Zaba as RB if Micah has to play in the middle.

I think that Ranocchia may be an upgrade compared to Savic, but is not a player ready to replace Lescott, nor Kompany
is also a player with a lot of muscle problems.

I know our 18s beat Inter afterwards but didn't Inter win the Next Gen? Surely they'd have a a couple of 17-18 year olds at a similar level to Suarez/Rekik we could demand instead?
