Andy Burnham | Manchester Mayor

I believe Peel Holdings want to use the ship canal for more traffic into Port Salford but that all seemed about a decade ago when I googled it so don’t know the current situation.

The canal fell out of use largely because it couldn’t accommodate the bigger modern ships, presumably the size of the locks being one of the main problems. I do hope (not) that the planners and architects have checked all this out.

Scruffy Jim’s been eyeing up some shire horses & barges.

I did a day trip up the ship canal with my elderly parents last year. Train to Liverpool then a Mersey ferry across the river and entered the canal at Eastham.

What struck me is apart from the Eastham to Runcorn section which is has alot of shipping and Salford quays the general condition of the infrastructure is knackered. The lock gates Irlam, Barton and Mode Wheel look ready to disintegrate. The docking facilities just passed Mode Wheel near the oil storage facilities look derelict which is where the nearest point to old Trafford is so for me this whole plan is a charade.

Peel ports own the canal which is partly owned by John Whittaker who like Scruffy Jim is another non dom residing in the Isle of Man.
Easy one that, cadge another billion off the government to get it up to scratch,

As my username suggests, I live in south Warrington, which has 3 swing bridges over the MSC. Might be a good opportunity for some industrial espionage/vandalism ;-)

We are being sold the pup that this vanity project for the rags can ONLY proceed if the rags move from the swamp into a new tax payers subsidised stadium with beneficial infrastructure.

It's complete bollocks & wholly untrue/misleading.

The 'regeneration' can proceed with minimal 'work arounds' if yewnytid remain where they are.

They only want to move to be given the benefits of all the non stadium related infrastructure development that the government & tax payer will pay for.

Questions -:

1) Who pays for the rail freight land.

2) Who pays for the land the circus will allegedly be built on.

3) Who pays for the land that the infrastructure,(trams, trains, roads, public realm) that will directly benefit yewnytid, will be built on.

4) Who gets all the land + car parks, that the swamp is built on.

5) Who is questioning the 'vested & conflict of interest' Gargoyle 1 has as as local property/hotel owner.

Fact is....if scruffyrat spent £50 million 'immediately' on the swamp along with an ongoing annual r&r programme, rag land would be fit for purpose.

However.....that would require him to spend his/their money which is an alien concept.

Where the rubber meets the road, the regeneration DOESN'T NEED YEWNYTID but yewnytid need the regeneration.

It's a charade & cunning stunt by a greedy,polluting,tax evading,tax grabbing, chav fan !!
Im submitting a FoI request to the MoGM Office with those questions and others

I will post my questions once complete and will welcome suggestions I have over 30 already

Some else posted that the rags say the entire project has the potential to create 92,000 new jobs, will involve the construction of 17,000 homes and bring an additional 1.8 million visitors to the area annually. They add the project will be worth an additional £7.3bn per year to the UK economy." That's an additional £7.3bn per year which works out at approx. £140m per week, £20m per day.

Can someone breakdown how the figures will be achieved, where will the 92k jobs come from, will they be temporary or permanent and what has been the figure that the regeneration around the Etihad been worth to the region?

Also if no public money will be spent on the stadium how much will be spent on other areas of the project. Who will be paying for the land they want to build the stadium on?

How much did the Manchester City council get out of Moss side area and ground plus Platt lane that City owned and used as a deal, Then City had to build a completely new stand and drop the playing service by lifting the running track,

We never got it for free ? did we, and a deal is a deal and not a gift

This is a valid question that they are glossing over one that I will included in my FoI request

City made a significant contribution to the project and was handed the complete stadium,
which they paid to fit out, the lease contributions over years will be close to have paid off the cost of the construction and land. City did benefit from a new stadium but equally so did the region, from the games, and of course post take over the regeneration of the district due to City’s investment

Burnham today advised that to relocate the Freight Rail Terminal to his mates on Merseyside will cost £300 million, paid from public coffers. This is just the start. Government funding of the surrounding areas could hit a Billion.

WHAT THE F@@@

Well done to all the Blues who are investigating this. Keep going because this is a national disgrace. Also where are the 90,000 jobs going to be. It's bullshit

They are twisting the truth about the new homes. They are in the plans of local councils at the moment.

They are spinning and bullshitting.

Burnham is a disgrace. A Bandwagon jumper and full of shit
