Angela Rayner

About 10 years ago hmrc sent me a £7k bill for tax that they said i owed. It never made sense to me , just could not see where this tax was supposedly owed from so i disputed it.

That started approx 6 months of hell as they aggressively hounded me for it. I got advised to “just pay it, get em off your back”.
But i just couldnt work out where i owed it from so dug my heals in.
The calls, letters, visits made me have panic attacks and probably a mini break down and being a bloke i kept it to my self. It was a fuckin awful way they went about chasing me.
I eventually told my accountant. She took it on and a month later i got a call off her.
“They made a mistake, you owe nothing and they actually owe you £200!!”

They made my life hell for a relative paltry £7k and took 18 months to send me a cheque for £200
Heels.

Been there.
HMRC resembles a protection racket far too often.

I'm yet to see any evidence of this.
Oft stated by Rayner...
One of many Rticlrd I could ha e chosen...

BBC News - Angela Rayner: I'm relaxed about the rich... if they pay tax - BBC News

The direct quote at the end...
"Don't preach to us if you're not paying your taxes and not doing the right thing," Ms Rayner said."

She chose to ignore the advice of two accountants and didn't pay double stamp duty on her 2nd property...

Starmer is a slow motion version of Truss.
But hey, let's not replace him with a hypocrite like Rayner.
He's hardly Truss. Look at the differences in the economy
What I was getting at is you said Rayner wasn't fit to be a minister if she didn't know she had to pay that stamp duty
Starmer claimed he didn't know about mandleson's ties to Epstien, when it seems apparent almost everyone in parliament knew

She was found guilty of not paying tax. That's why she paid the interest if £3,170.
For whatever reason HMRC decided not to to fine her for avoidance.
My accountant is at a total loss as to why she didn't get a fine,.
Only a tax payer being as "As thick as pig shit" is the only time he's seen HMRC be so lenient.
Oh and she did IGNORE the advice of two tax specialists who said she DID owe it.
So. she knowingly didn't pay the tax.
Oh and she did break the ministerial code no matter how you shuffle it.
Now you're desperate. Evidence that she ignored one tax adviser let alone two?

Bottom line. The law says you're deemed to own a property you don't own, and she didn't check that. And if her disabled son had been a bit older, that law wouldn't have applied and she wouldn't have been liable for the tax.

Tax advisers or accountants? Evidence that she took advice and ignored it? And I'm sure you can explain how a property you've put in trust for a disabled child (gifted it to the child) is still deemed to be still your own property.

I believe she has acknowledged that her legal adviser, who believed sh was exempt advised her to seek specialist tax advice which she chose to ignore. That is very poor judgment at best. However clever or not Angela Rayner is (think she is a lot more colourful as a person than most of the other candidates) I believe she will be like marmite to the electorate. If this is about securing the next election then I think the only 2 rational choices are stick with Starmer or go Burnham.

You're the one who is getting desperate.
She is now poison with the electorate.
