17-year-old City academy left-back Angelino (@angel_city3) was named in the UEFA Youth League Best XI for this year.

Only seen highlights of this lad but he does seem to be a great crosser of the ball, in the under 21's at 17 as well.

I wonder if we will be brave and do what Southampton did with Luke Shaw and bring him through around the same age.

He should at least get some game time in the cups.

José Ángel Esmoris Tasende - To give him his full name:-)

Its about time he had his own thread, only just turned 17 and already a huge talent.I can see him fitting easily into our first team, hopefully in the next couple of years.

I agree. At some time we do need to be brave, show some faith and promote from within and give someone a real chance - not necessarily just the cups, but a first team squad berth.

If not this lad, then someone.

A top talent and with a wand of a left foot, him and Denayer should really be in the first team squad within 3 years. So composed on the ball and very classy with the rare ability to have an end product.

Add in Lopes, Garcia and hopefully Pozo and 5 of the biggest talents we have ever seen coming through the academy.

Still miles off, Greg Leigh in the EDS is considerably closer to the first team

Purely because of physicality and experience gained and while a promising, steady player, ultimately,i don't think Leigh has anywhere near the potential of Angelino.

Like several others,Leigh needs a loan

Leigh is a right back whilst Angelino is a left back, both have a chance of making it.

If Leigh is a right back somebody needs to tell his right foot to learn how to kick a ball :)

He most definitely is a LEFT back.

-- Wed Apr 16, 2014 7:36 pm --

100% agree with this. I like Greg a lot but I am not sure he has enough to make it at the top level but the way of finding out is a loan spell.

Angelino might however be special BUT I need to be convinced has good enough defensive qualities.Excellent attacking quality and does cross a great ball.He could well be a candidate for the first team at a young age and he could also be a reason why we would not go for Luke Shaw who I think might be the best left back in the country.

If Kolarov can make a living at the highest level from being a set-piece + cross specialist, surely there is hope for this boy?

Haven't seen much of him consistently but seems very talented attacking wise but not much developed physically, to those who have, do you think he is in a level for example play a COC cup game against lower opposition with Milner ahead to cover for instance?
