Angelo Gregucci

Yes sack him, it was his fault Barry and Yaya didnt bother to attack the corners. How dare he tell them to act like statues. FFS when are the players going to take responsibility for their actions when they cross the white line. On the other hand, lets get rid of this zonal marking the players clearly arn't up to it.

Unfortunately Mancini has a huge entourage of staff who are mates with very little talent.

Who is this Very Little Talent character and why are Mancini's huge entourage of staff mates with him? Is it because he's likes a bit of zonal?

Don't really know what you're worried about ......

nobody speaks english at City these days !

Diden´t we use zonal marking last year?
Yes. Have done for the past two years as far as my knowledge goes. Two consecutive years of having the best defence in the prem. Players fuck up this year and its the whole system that should be scrapped.

This Gregucci bloke is really starting to annoy me, coming out with comments all the time to the media over who we are looking at. Someone needs to tell him to shut up and stop talking about the conversations he is seemingly having with Mancini and start focusing on drilling the players to do their jobs like last season.

Under Lombardo we had no problems, with this new guy he is either doing nothing or doing alot and we haven't seen it yet.

In the OP it said he had been brought in as a defensive coach. Who exactly said that? Mancini , in an interview said he hadn't been doing any defensive coaching.

Seems some fans will believe anything!

I think that's the problem.

Our problems with the lack of cohesion is not completely down to Gregucci, but down to either injuries to our key players or with them playing in the Euros during our pre-season preparation.

The question I would ask is is it ANYTHING to do with Gregucci?

He hasn't been coaching but clearly he will have been helping Mancini plan the workings our defensive unit, which hasn't been very good on the whole this season.

Blaming it on him is just speculation though. For all we know, he could have recommended things to Mancini & not had them implemented yet.

One thing is for sure, we have been organisationally weaker than last season, no matter how our defence compares to other teams. Anyone can see that just watching them.

No, once Gregucci gets a uninterrupted run with our players we won't have too much trouble.

We've conceded 10 goals in 11 games in the Prem. If we carried on at this rate we'd only have conceded 34 goals by the end of the season. We conceded 29 goals last season. So it's not a great deal different.

Yes, we've conceded a lot of goals in the cups this season; 13 in 5 games. And yes, we could have gone on to win the FL Cup which would have been nice but we aren't going to win the CL this season and the most important thing for us is retaining the title for now. CL improvments will come in time.

So a nice run of clean sheets in the Prem at any time in the season and we'd average it down to about the same as we conceded last season.

You have no way of knowing this & he doesn't do the coaching anyway, Mancini does, so if he ever gets a run with our players, it will most likely be next summer before it happens.

It's enough to have prevented us from winning the league last year.

Maybe, but Gregucci has a good knowledge of the game.

He is there and that's about the only fact we know.It would be surprising if he hasnt said something about our defensive set up but have you noticed us setting up any differently to last year? Not really.

Maybe his contribution has been to tell Mancini that individuals are making mistakes which are costing us goals and not in the best form. That's about the bottom line isn't it? I don't think its bad organisationally but just mistakes from players in poor form. Plus maybe I suppose the opposition team working out our methods and finding ways to score which they didn't last season

The old adage goes 'If its not broken don't fix it.' Quite simply this must be followed.

That in itself is part of the problem, in Italy the adage is "Fix it when you're winning, not when you're losing."
