Another Bellingham Saga

I shouldn't worry. From what I've seen on twitter today, Birmingham fans have slightly more pressing matters than hyping up a 15 year old. Namely that they've only just been told that 2 of their 4 stands are unavailable for the first month of the season!

Didn't Glyn Pardoe make his debut at 15? Bloody hell, that nearly 60 years ago now.
Indeed and that is why his record will never be broken as the rules changed to state under 16's couldn't play.
I recall Malcolm Allison stating he would have played Tommy Caton earlier than he did but he couldn't until he had left school and turned 16

Only in premier league I think. Can't play until you have signed a professional contract, Darren Fletcher was prevented from making his debut for the rags aged 15 due to this rule.

Doesn't stop players turning out in the league cup and other cup competitions (unless the FA cup has its own rules). See Harvey Elliott below, aged 15 played for Fulham in EFL cup. Became youngest debutant in PL history, but not before he had turned 16.

Mason Bennett played in the championship age 15 for Derby in 2011.

Plenty of young starters go onto have ordinary or disappointing careers, dropping out of the football league. Probably not a good idea to start players so young.
