They were elected on that very principle. To suddenly decide they were "against it", when the Conservative PArty ran on an "get brexit done" policy, would to be deceiving the voters who elected them (see 2017).

They were being held to their oath when they became MP's of this Conservative Government. That IS democracy, and it is also treating the electorate with respect.
Oath? To The Fuhrer?

Give a thought to the 55.4% of the electorate who didn't vote Conservative

Just in case you didn't spot it that's a substantial majority
Under our system, the 44.6% who did, it absolutely is a majority.

You only seem to like democracy when it suits. I guarentee you won't have quoted these figures after a similar Labour victory. It just stinks of entitlement.

56.4%.

If we’re treating that the same as some Brexiters are treating the SNP vote in Scotland, we’re leaving the EU against the wishes of the majority.

Here's a conundrum for Remainers on here.

There are a few posters claiming that Leave gained less than 50% of the vote in the election. This is based on assuming Labour had a Remain policy. It didn't...it had some Remain / Leave mash up that was quite clearly a load of shite.

Hence an 80 seat Conservative majority :)

Its not so much that the best losers get to lead the government that bothers me about our system. Its that they are allowed to totally disregard those others that represent the majority that is everything that is wrong with our system of democracy.
Yeah, just like those poor leave voting unionist, anti Scottish Independence Scots, eh?

If you’re referring to me I’m not saying that. There’s no way of knowing because it wasn’t a referendum.

If you are talking Scotland then it isn’t FPTP. Which is why they need support from other parties. At the moment the Greens. So no not just like Scotland. And all but one Scottish government has been a coalition. Not sure why you are going on about Scotland though when I was talking about an obviously unfair UK Westminster system where Liberals can increase their vote by 4% and get less seats while the Conservatives and SNP increase theirs by 1% and have big increases in seats and power. Its simply wrong.

You mean that same unfair Westminster system which saw 1.24m SNP votes return 48 MP's whilst 3.69m Lib Dem votes returned 11?
Are you advocating that the SNP have no mandate in anything they announce as a result of the unfairness of FPTP?
You have nothing to complain about the system when it suits you, do you really.

Yes that system. Why you think its a fair and good one, doesn't sound like it. You’ve just mentioned 5 million voters that have no real representation in parliament because they can be ignored by a government with no intention of listening to their opinions.

You know that Trump also polled less votes than Hillary Clinton.

Anway 'the will of the people' will be enacted.
You believe that high population metropolitan areas should have supremacy over sparsely populated areas?

Now you're sounding like an elitist! The system in America works to reflect the population numbers. Not every single state has an equal number of representatives. California has more that Nevada, in reference to it's higher population numbers.

You have no argument that makes any logical sense beyond "it simply isn't fair" when it absolutely is and has been studied to be fair. Nobody complained about the electoral college/popular vote under other presidential elections, did they. Yours is a tantrum like response.

The will of the majority of the voting public will be enacted. You need to accept that.

And as I said, your own Scottish Parliament is doing a grand job of representing the 55% who voted to remain in the UK, haven't they.

So the candidate with less votes wins

Okay
