Just putting this here with absolutely no comment as nothing is needed.

I suppose the thing is that vote leave was just a campaigning organisation so was in no position to promise anything, and 'The Government' in this case is not the current one which is not bound by the promises as it was elected on its own manifesto. Were this still the Cameron / May Govt, and were 'Vote Leave' an actual entity with legislative power then I think it is fair to say promises were broken.
Personally I think Boris only chose leave as Cameron had already bagged remain - much the same way as I'm sure they decided who was black/white when they played chess at Eton. Boris was shrewd enough to slink away embarrassed after leave won as I'm sure he was given assurances this would not be the case. His election as PM was of the next government was based upon a much simpler contract whose only promise was to 'get brexit done'. In fairness he's sticking to that albeit with the 'oven ready deal' requiring a rather longer cooking time than he appeared to think.

This
And Brits paying more for butter is a good thing because...?

The only advantage is at £5 per pat of butter Lurpak will be selling in lower volume so they will have fewer lorries to send to the UK. Same with Danish bacon. And that of course assumes that UK production of things like butter and bacon can be increased to meet the new demand. I mean they have 6 weeks how long do you need to milk more cows, churn more butter, grow more pigs, cure more bacon and increase the storage, distribution and sales how much more would they need?

Lurpak themselves seem to be clear that brexit/end of transition with or without a deal won't make any difference to sales/imports? I'm not sure how this can be, but I'm guessing they have given it some thought.

err - I am sorry but the government at the moment is very fucking much the ones to blame - Cain and Cummings departure aside every single cabinet member is in place because they campaigned for Brexit....anyone who had any contrary view was purged from the party pre-December election.

So none of the bastards are to blame?

Yeah - they know if the full tariff is passed on it will be 47% more expensive than the UK's cheapest butter - I am sure Arla have adjusted their sales forecasts down. What is your opinion on bread and dripping?

I think the only people to blame are the 17.4m that made the choice - the Govt are just trying to deliver on it insofar as they can. I'm fairly sure the conservatives can think of other easier ways to impoverish the majority of the population and enrich themselves that are politically much less palarva. I suppose we can blame Cameron for letting this particular genie out of the bottle, but this Govt is quite a way from his. Cameron thought he could repeat the 2011 triumph of getting the population to vote against perfectly reasonable electoral reform with scare tactics.

No idea mate. I'm assuming that imports will be hard hit - it's Lurpak who seem to think they wont.

Ahhhh I see.......blame the will of the people - not the bastards who sold them a pup - not the inadequates trying to provide the impossible by lying - handy - is that an extension of Catch-22?

I suspect Arla know the score and are trolling as a last laugh on the wankers who still feel Brexit will be a success - look at Arla's brands and where they are sourced. I am working on a 6 month temporary contract at the moment and am 2 months in...... I have more confidence about my future than those poor sods who work in that big distribution plant just off the M62 can have.

Tbh I don't really see it in terms of blame, otherwise I'd be hating most of humanity for various things that I don't agree with over the years. We're all adults and we all had one vote. We're all 'to blame' as it was a decision we all made together via a democratic process. I get that not everyone agreed with it, and there were false / broken promises along the way, but it's hard to think of any large democratic exercise in my lifetime in which that is not the case. Those still crying foul about 2016 now are no different to Trump still ranting about Biden winning.

Bollocks - Remain was Remain. Leave was riddled with lies and broken false promises that depended on there being 17.2 million versions of Leave and never ever explaining what the version was the proposers of Leave never ever explaining which version they were proposing so that Leavers could distinguish between what their aims were and what was being proposed. Even now after we have left 4 years later whether we get BRINO or no deal neither quite simply will not be what the vast majority voted for never mind the myriad of permutations in between, Thats the lie Leave has never come to terms with since day one.

It‘s incredible that ”remainers” are still being blamed for this shit show. It was only going to be thus. The fact that Johnson has taken it to the wire makes any potential deal shitter than it had to be.

There was never any financial upslope to Brexit.

Had we negotiated as a 3rd country in as best of faith as we could, we could have limited the inevitable financial hit of leaving a trading club.

We‘re now at the precipice of the no deal cliff. The no deal rats have left the ship.

We‘re at the salvage stage of the self harm process caused by Brexit.

Their champions no longer post on here. They’re few on Twitter.

Either they’re hoping for a no deal to tell us all how right they were, fucked off all social media bar Parler, working out a way to tell the rational that they never voted for this, or are finally resigning themselves that they have been sold a dud.

Time will tell.

Either Eustice is stupid or thinks we are, if he thinks British farmers can replace Danish butter. For that we need, guess what, milk - and we import that from the EU. We've got six weeks to breed more cows...
The UK is a net exporter of raw milk. Last time I looked we produced 110% of our needs.
Lurpak either absorb the tariff or lose market share.
