Well if France isnt safe thank god we are not going to be part of a group that they are allied too! I’ve never heard so much shit in my life.

People voted for Brexit the same reason they voted Trump in America, they’ve had enough of the status quo and sick to death of politicians everywhere. It’s not turned out too good in USA let’s see how it goes here.

france ? You are arguing that France isn’t a safe country? Seriously that’s your argument

Then all asylum seekers would be seeking asylum in the same countries, non here. Which might be okay if then all the other countries accepted a fair share of those, but they and us probably wouldn’t, and those countries, like Greece, Southern Italy, Spain, would be left with the problems.
The question is though once they have come through the european mainland and then tried to get to the UK by boat or whatever, what do we do. Either listen to their story and if they need help,help. Or just refuse to listen and turn our backs.
The society I beleive the UK should be and has been in the past is the one that at least listens to their story before deciding.

Ive covered this in an earlier post... the UN Refugee Convention of 1951 allows an asylum seeker to choose the country the seek refuge in . And its an offence to deny them safe passage en route.

People keep ignoring this fact.

There are many reasons why people would want to seek asylum in the UK, one being we have always welcomed asylum seekers because we are a decent country that has until quite recently always respected the rule of law and the UN Convention.

Totally incorrect ... the International Law applies ... if you dont agree with the International Law then vote for a political party that will actually attempt to change it

indeed but that’s not your argument . Yours is people are seeking asylum in the uk because France isn’t safe

Ficticious argument .... France isn't any more dangerous than the country they're try to escape from .... and even if it was ... it would be committing an international crime by stopping and harassing an Asylum seeker.

Which is the point i am making and why asylum is necessary and a proper procedure is in place to establish why they feel unsafe and if so asylum is granted.

An Algerian may end up in France, but has connections through his grandparents to the Algerian war of Independence. He could be made to feel unsafe because his neighbours father fought against independence and as a result he may want to seek asylum in a safer place away from the intimidation he may feel he is receiving

True ... but its not about how you feel .... you have to evidence it. Are you threatened because of your religious views? Your sexual orientation ? Your race ? Your political views? Is your country under attack by another?

these are hard measurements ... not subjective and influenced by opinion .
