I listen to his show most days, and he does articulate the case for remain very well - probably more so than any politician does frankly. His only weakness is an assumption that voters are motivated purely by economics. I like lbc because you get a good dose of both sides. Farage is a bit of a broken record, but Ian Dales show later in the evenings is a decent 'leave' view.

I have several responses to that to push my increasing view that Scotland's voting public will be rightly pissed off, but when the detail is gone through and the impact assessed the majority will grudgingly vote to remain

Out with the family so will do that later

Can I ask you a direct and blunt question on a related point though and ask you to take deep breath before giving a considered response

You refer to my swipes - fair enough

You comment on greater satisfaction from reasoned debate - I agree

But.....

In that case - why have I not see a single post from you pulling up WDB on any of his 100s of snide posts and for falsely calling people a liar? what about BJ for calling people a liar?

What about the extreme rants from the buzzers? Or the direct insults from the Dave twins - and so on...

Because - unless you can provide a good explanation can you advise why you should not be accused of holding double standards?

Frankly, there are many Leave posters that cannot be arsed any more due to the 'quality' of Remain input from such posters

You might feel that you provide reasoned and considered posts - I might agree - but I suggest that you are not typical and my swipes were not aimed at you
When you do respond, I'm interested in your further arguments but could you also address the points that I made. Thanks.

You asked me a blunt question so forgive me if my answer is blunt. You are the only poster on here I have made these type of comments to because you are the only poster on here that regularly frustrates the hell out of me. None of the others have attacked me or insulted me. A number of your posts have left me feeling that way and I think your style of communication is aimed to do just that - to get a reaction - and I think that is why you regularly get pulled up by others. That they insult you is wrong where it breaches the code of conduct but that should be left to the guys who are responsible for that, not me.

I completely believe you are what you say you are but as a senior consultant operating at government level(? )you will have a toolset of different communication styles and the one you have chosen for this forum is the wrong one (imo) if you want to engage in genuine debate. Why am I answering your question? Because I genuinely believe you would make an interesting and educational contribution to Remainers on this forum by explaining your views in as much detail as you can. Some of us do genuinely want to understand the other arguments. Like you did in your Scottish post. The country is riven by this bloody thing and this thread is a microcosm of it. If fellow Blues cant talk about why they believe what they do, either brexit or remain, what hope is there? There is far too little meat in this thread, far too little honest detailed debate that would help each side understand the other. Sorry if this reads like a rant - its not meant to.

I dont agree with your assessment of James. Have heard him extensively talk about all other aspects of the remain argument. I agree he is more effective in his communication than any politician.

James O brien certaintly seems the type to be honestly seeking for truth trough fact and good argument, to the point where a Brexiteer who did his homework should be able to bring some persuasive arguments. I think it's time he filters out those that he's going to sealclub anyway, yeah he's much better on debate than many average joe's no need to prove that indefinatly.

I havn't see enough of him to judge it all and it's easy to be mistaken in people once they prove their errors, but in comparison to the general tone of discussion maintained in British media it seems like a difference of night and day. As mentioned before i think the state of the media in the UK is dire and a serious issue for british democracy.

Thanks for proving the point made in my last post.
Let's just guess that previously in these threads you have made 199 utterly vacuous/snide posts and that this one is you breaking ground with your number 200.

To help with clarity on the thread - if you keep this shit up - I will just reply with a simple acknowledgement of your score - 201, 202 etc.

What will be interesting for me is who will get a thread ban first?

Me, for simply pointing out the continuous stream of snide posts you make, - or you for just continually making snide posts?

If I was a betting man...….

Fair enough. I can only then offer my sincere apologies for suggesting that you were attempting to characterise all brexiteers in this way. It seems it is all in my own head, and I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong as it appears I am on this occasion. In my defence it is easy to take these things out of context - like the government putting in place measures for martial law in the event of a 'no deal' brexit. I can honestly say I've not personally come across any remainer that I think would resort to violent disorder.

Good post - I hope it was understood

It’s touching that you make such an effort to respond to me. I honestly can’t admit doing the same with yours.

201.

Always the victim !
Just stick to Brexit and argue the case for leaving - you clog up so many pages arguing at other posters about their ‘snide remarks’ and ‘why didn’t you pull so and so up ‘ its nauseating, as has been mentioned you’re a good poster when you stick to the Brexit points. No one is out to get you.

You can tell O’Brien is very good just by reading the waves and waves of total idiots that criticise him on Facebook. None ever actually take on what he says, they just come out with “I turn off when he comes on”, “he’s soooo patronising” etc. etc.

He’s not patronising, he’s just telling them why their ridiculous arguments are ridiculous.

Why have you not replied to WDB asking him to quit the shit then?;-)
