Cork to Rotterdam, 708 nautical miles minimum. Their ferries travel at an average 18.8 knots so that's about 37hrs and 40mins.

At a guess.
14 hours to France, only a couple of hours longer than going through the UK. How long does it take to go from Cork to Rotterdam through the UK?

Yes I can, but I told you that's not what we're discussing. And now we've reached the point where the initial topic has been forgotten. Well done.
Nope, the initial topic has been forgotten because everything you post is straight off the top of your head with no basis in fact, and that distracts people into refuting your points.

Yet 5 mins delay at a port will decimate UK trade or so we are told?

Anyway im pleased the couple of hours extra wont be an issue.

For the E27 the two are indivisible. I’d caveat by saying there is no appetite for full political union but in order to facilitate trade you need a degree of political cohesion, shared rules and shared sovereignty. Norway and Switzerland may not be EU members but to get the trade benefits of the EU they have to sign up to the rules and that option is the best we are going to get. Otherwise it’s isolation and that is not sustainable.

To facilitate trade you need a trade deal, nothing more.

Ducking the issue?

What you mean how you're ducking the issue of the UK union not being respected by the EU? That's the discussion.
The EU offered to let NI stay in the Customs Union and Single Market while remaining in the UK. How is that not respecting your union? Do you know what's not respecting your union? Telling two of the 4 countries in it that their votes are worth nothing and their wishes won't be respected. That's what's threatening your union right now, not the EU.

Because that would also tie the rest of the UK into a customs union. The UK isn't 4 countries, it's one country and NI. Scotland is not an independant country, is it, so stop referring to it as such. Scotland voted as part of Great Britain. It's about as relevant as pointing out London was mostly for remain. It disrespects the other regions that voted to leave overwhelmingly.

Correct

We are in a right mess.

The problem is even if the eu came back and removed the backstop and gave us a more favourable deal , with a majority of 1 there is absolutely no chance labour the snp, Lib Dem’s are going to support it. They just are not. Labour will do anything to shit on the Tories as will the snp.

There are those who just want to remain and will do anything to get that position. There are those who just want to leave want that at at any cost

Those who want to leave with a deal ( you know the soft brexit the sensible compromise to a divided nation) are pissing in the wind. We could present the most sensible deal to the commons to end this situation and it will get voted down.

We are going to get to October and all be scratching our heads as to what the hell we do now and it will be extended and so it will go on.....
I'm not saying who's right or wrong in the whole debate of who won't negotiate with who, but as you describe above, (correctly in my view)....
Why would the EU negotiating team reopen the WA at the moment.
What the hell are they negotiating with?
You need to get your own house in order first and have a clear majority supported idea in mind.
Anything else would be seen as a clear waste of time at the moment.

WA has been rejected by Parliament and the person who proposed it no longer in a position to command it.

The WA is dead, and if a deal is to be concluded, new negotiations must start. BoJo advocated a Canada type deal, EU offered May a Canada type deal, but she rejected it.

WA is dead, move forward with a Canada deal.

It’s amazing isn’t it the way you spin this

Uk votes to leave yeah but 48% voted remain so a compromise needed and their views heard, ok fair enough

However Scotland and Northern Ireland voted to remain. Everyone apparently. Nope nobody in Scotland or Northern Ireland voted to leave. It was unanimous so the democratic result needs to be respected. Scotland voted remain so fuck the leave voters in Scotland in that case their views don’t matter

If you want to play that game England voted leave so why don’t you respect that ? Are you telling the people of England their vote are worth nothing and their wishes won’t be respected ?

See how silly your argument is ?

Exactly. A compromise needed and their views heard. Explain that to the blowhards pushing for no deal.

Who is advocating for no deal that you are speaking to right now?

Remainers "compromise" to leavers is "we don't leave the EU".

Leavers compromise is "let's do a deal that continues tarriff free trade as much as possible".

We are one sovereign state consisting of four countries. Two of those countries voted to stay in the EU and two voted to leave. The two that voted to stay are being dragged out against their will. The EU offered to give one of the four countries a special status to enable it to stay in the EU, which would safeguard the internationally agreed GFA. The UK, on behalf of that country, refused based on the objection of a minority party in that country. If the UK government had not refused, the Customs Union would have applied just to NI and not the rest of the UK.

Anything up to a couple of hours and we will be fine yes?
It'll hit your trade in that scenario but not too badly. Think that's a very optimistic scenario under no deal though. Then you get to non tariff and regulatory issues which is where the real pain lies, along with none of your services companies being able to operate outside the UK.
