Corbyn and his Marxist controllers are seeking to create the conditions for an extremist polarization of politics and ensure that our democratic processes are as chaotic and divisive as they can make them.
Thank goodness Johnson and Cummings would never resort to such sinister tactics, eh.

True, I should have added that the Labour Party is delaying the election simply to drive the Tories into a pact with the Brexit Party. Corbyn and his Marxist controllers are seeking to create the conditions for an extremist polarization of politics and ensure that our democratic processes are as chaotic and divisive as they can make them. They know they will lose whenever the vote occurs and just want a contest that will inflict irreparable damage our parliamentary institutions and constitiutional form of government to create the conditions for their poisonous ideology to take root.
George, if Corbyn gets in, we're not all going to have to join our local soviets you know. He's an old vegetarian from north london. I can't be doing with him at all, not for political reasons, I just think he's an arse, but your fantasies of a secret underground red cabal guiding their agent in government are bollox. It's Seamus Milne, that's all.

Its a desperate embarrassing mess on all sides if we're all honest.

Seumas please, they remember that sort of thing (him and the rest of the 53 Cabal members - if you believe the FT of course - which I think is an underestimate.)

You can't equate a civil servant to a President or his cabinet (the commission), and its a very slippery slope to have unelected politicians in positions of great power.

We may well see a rise in extremism in Europe some time in the future, who knows how powerful the EU President will be at that time? And for him or her to be unelected is a scary thought for me.

Sorry meltonblue meant to quote you haha.

Been a long day!

No worries! I really don't see it as a position of power the same as you do, nowhere near as much as I see our own head of state or even
their own political advisors. I see EU bodies of having powers that either our elected MEPs or our elected prime minister sit on.

I still also disagree with the principle of them being unelected. Although I can see the argument, I still don't think the public are in a position to really judge the merits of people for that position.

The other thing I'd say is I do think that role has been made a scapegoat for our own domestic choices and failings. I personally think if Blair hadn't gone directly for free movement for new members in 2004, the perception of the EU would be very different to what it is now. I do go back to the question of what people think either of the presidents are really accountable for and what they are capable of doing without backing from a democratic vote from the heads of member states.

I'm beginning to think Brexit is a distraction for them and that they'll even settle for a revocation. Cummings is driven by his hatred of the ERG and Farage, they just want 5 years in power.

I think you need to read more of his blogs. He absolutely wants to leave, for different reasons though.

But only one side has been in power for the last 4 years, and has created this shit show.
My comment wasn't about the brexit mess they created, it was on the whole political 'extremist' left v right mess we're now in as a country.

Anyway I vowed never to come in this forum, even less comment, so I'm off back to the football channels.

Unfortunately you're dead right,it shouldn't have been if we'd had a Parliament that was half competent that go's for both sides of the house the quality of politicians reflects the state of the country.

Where is the mystic 53 based? Are they home counties?
I can't afford to get behind the FT paywall to click on their bios. My one free article has seized up unfortunately

Well for such a master planner, it hasn't worked out very well if he really Brexit has it?

He'll say he's mapped this all out already! Bear in mind though, he didn't want article 50 triggered for at least a few years. Doing it that quickly got rid of any chance of either influencing reform or any planning of what deal to get, hence the shitshow since. That's partly why he now hates the ERG.

To be fair the ERG are not hard to hate.
