No fair point.
Have to admit, I skimmed through about 20 pages as I’m finding it a bit tedious at the moment and don’t always have time to read everyone’s very long responses to each other.
It’s just that are you not free to let in people outside the EU club you’re currently in if you choose?

Genuine question. I wasn’t aware the EU demand curtailment.

It did indeed turn out to be boring and tedious

Whilst I am personally an advocate of FOM and would like to see some arrangement that allowed it to continue - I just pointed out the simple facts that the EU rules actually provide an advantage for EU citizens over people wishing to come to the UK from the ROW.

Simple fact - no need for angst or debate - but some posters felt that there was some 'slight' being made and had to go all OTT defensive on behalf of the EU and display all manner of faux outrage

Best left alone now - they seem to have quietened down

After that bit of sage advice I think I might pop over and contribute it to the Great Drunks thread lol
Not sure what you’re implying there, but I haven’t touched a drop tonight. Probably futile repeating the question, but I’ll give it another go. Are there any credible news outlets actually backing up your claim that Bettel “had to plead with the imported British Pro-Remain mob not to leave and stay to applaud his pathetic panto act”?

There was only one poster going OTT in that exchange and you’ll find him in the mirror.

That was the mere detail you were being pulled up on and funnily enough it’s the mere detail you had made up.

Credible? With you probably not but (yet again) check Sky Press Preview - Carole something - no idea who she is, Jon Craig, Adam Parsons all reporting on the ambush - middle aged expats, same as banners etc as Parliament Green and so on

Yep. Middle aged expats. Thanks for confirming.
Not an imported mob from Parliament Square.

Thankfully I was otherwise engaged or might have got involved in the discriminategate controversy. Still, I'll give it a go.

"Does a citizen of a non-EU nation enjoy the same opportunity to move to the UK as an EU citizen?

Answer
no, but it's not discrimination by the EU. It's a right that EU citizens have but any discrimination is by the UK in not affording the same right to non-EU citizens.

I can't attempt the second bit as only one person knows what on earth it means:

Or is there a level to which EU citizen is recognised and a distinction/differentiation is made?"

That's such a badly-worded question that whether I answered yes or no you'd have no idea what I meant, because I wouldn't know.

A question for the legal types. Will primacy of EU law possibly be the route that BoJo takes to ‘legally’ leave the EU, with no-deal, on October 31st? I ask because I think the legal default, in the EU at least, is we leavewWit on the 31st and that that law would trump the Benn Bill. Obviously, as with many things, I could be completely wrong.....
The European Union (Withdrawal) (No. 2) Act 2019 imposes obligations on the UK PM. It has no impact on the EU.

Without a further extension, the EU Treaties cease to apply to the UK after 31 October (with or without an agreement under Article 50).

If Johnson breaks the UK law, and does not seek an extension, that has no impact on the Article 50 position. If he did refuse two things could happen (inter alia).

1. Johnson would face a court order to comply with the Act (and be in contempt if he didn't, then possibly imprisoned until he purged his contempt).

2. Parliament could pass an Act asking for an extension and the EU could decide that with the PM in prison they would take our sovereign Parliament as the appropriate constitutional authority to ask (even without royal assent).

There are other constitutional issues of course. One would be to test whether the monarch can appoint another PM in any circumstance without the existing PM resigning or dying (literally or figuratively in a ditch). Another would be to see if impeachment is really obsolete.

Or (3. Parliament votes to revoke Article 50 and the EU just says fine and by the time it gets to court we're de facto still a member state and the ultimate judicial decision would be in the ECJ!)

You're talking to the one person who...

A: Understands what the fuck you're on about.

B: Gives a shit.

C: Agrees with you.

And that person is you.

Ha ha - so witty - so incisive

You are right and it makes me feel lonely - so I can get you to come and join me

All that is needed is for you to answer the following question - with honesty:

Simple question and resist the urge to deflect - give a yes or no answer

Does a citizen of all non-EU nations enjoy the same opportunity to move to the UK as an EU citizen? or is there a level to which EU citizen is recognised and a distinction/differentiation is made?

Remember yes or no - oh and most of all - be honest

If your answer is No (spoiler - it is/should be) then yippee - we share the same opinion

If your answer is Yes - then I refer you back to the need to be honest

Fact remains Johnson bottled it and gave the opportunity for the humiliating prezzer - had Bettel had it in for him and had organised a protest to show Johnson up then he would surely have had a tub of lard ready and waiting to be substituted for the man child once he had stormed off.
You view things as you are desperate to it seems

Quick question:

Has Bettel helped to improve the image of the EU within the minds of UK citizens that are not already, like you, committed to Remain?

If I was in charge of the upcoming Remain campaign in a GE I would be groaning

Answer no...…….

There you go it was not hard was it the rest was superfluous as you attempt to deflect. Just a fact that the EU rules discriminate...….. etc.

Anyway having established the simple truth I will leave it there

ANY restrictive immigration policy of a nation state inherently discriminates against another nationality or category of people. Why should a collective agreement between 28 nation states to allow FoM of people, goods and services be any different? Would you prefer the alternative of global, unrestricted FoM between all nation states as that is the only policy that would remove the discriminatory element completely?

Well the last few pages have been a bit fraught and a number of posters are very excitable. The footballification of the debate continues apace.
I wonder if it will kick off after the game, both firms meeting up for a big set too, Big Georgie Porgie at the front in his Stone Island gear steaming into the Lacoste clad Banji. Or will it be handbags and lots of running and posturing.
This is what the whole debate has become and to be honest it is a bit pathetic, I know people have invested a lot of themselves into their certain stances and all, but look how divisive it is to us, all City fans with a common love of a great Football team arguing like a bunch of schoolgirls over whose tits are bigger and whose boyfriend has the biggest cock.
It is a shame on the nation that experts were derided by certain people and in the experts place, normal lads and lasses like ourselves are struggling to make head or tail of what the fuck is actually happening.

And today, the whole circus moves on to the Supreme Court, and the whole circus on here carries on too. Get your clown suits ready boys. :))

Meanwhile the Capitalists will be priming their hedge funds to make a quick quid today dependent on the result of the Supreme Court ruling, pockets will be lined, champagne will be drunk and the rich will be laughing all the way to their Cayman Islands bank accounts.

And on here we will take our places on the terraces and sling insults over the segregation, whilst those in the boxes dine on Foix Gras and Moet Chandon.

What a strange fucked up country we are currently living in. Nice one Call me Dave, your legacy is writ large and it is a legacy of fuckedupness. Rule Britannia has become Fool Britannia and every **** is laughing at us.

All part of the master plan. They wouldn’t have it any other way

Just wait until we leave and the real blame game starts.....but we won’t be looking up. We’ll be blaming each other. And maybe teenage single mums, they’ve had an easy ride for the past few years
