Yeah but Brexiteers won’t be told. The delusion is too strong. And when the Govt does fold, as it did in the WA, and the outcome is only mildly crap and not doomsday, Johnson will proclaim he proved the naysayers wrong and wrought a mighty victory and Brexiteers will crow and hold more parties.

In other news we have always been at war with Eastasia.

That is also my prediction.
Undeclared vassalage.

The problem with brexiteers is that there has been so much crying Wolf and doom mongering that they have, stopped listening. Deeply frustrating I'm sure for those trying to give genuinely balanced views and genuine warnings.

You do know what happened to the boy in that story........
You do know it’s your side of the debate that’s crying wolf with your constant predictions of doom and gloom that haven’t happened and aren’t going to happen? Being condescending and arrogant is one thing, but being condescending and arrogant and wrong is actually quite amusing to watch.

Think the only analogy you need is we can see each others hands so bluffing doesn’t really work.

The thing is it's not just about the economics it's about the politics as well. I think hopefully it will be a case of both sides privately working together to find a solution that gets the best outcome for both.

Whatever they say in public should be taken with a pinch of salt.

No. The problem with Brexiteers is their constant disconnect with reality. You have Brexiteers like Carswell proclaiming because there were no queues at Dover or the sky didn’t fall in on 1st Feb then ‘Remainers’ should apologise as if the 11 month transition period didn’t exist to ensure there were no queues at Dover. Did we have WW3 on the 25th June 2016? No? Well clearly everyone was talking shite then yada, yada. The fact Sterling tanked, we pumped money into the system and lost 2% in projected growth since 2016, or about £44 billion, and we have yet to go anywhere (and still haven’t) is ignored.

Did we promise not to put up an internal customs border in the Irish Sea? Yes. Emphatically so and Brexiteers cheered at mighty British fortitude. Did we put an internal customs border in the Irish Sea? Yes we did and again Brexiteers cheered at mighty British fortitude and sticking to the EU.

Are we going to have regulatory alignment with the EU. No we are not says the Govt. None whatsoever with anyone in fact, we are mighty Britain after all, except every fucking trade deal on the planet has degrees of alignment and dispute mechanism and judicial oversight but no let’s ignore reality in favour of getting Brexiteers moist.

And no one where in this sainted land of make believe is there any visible sign or physical manifestations of making any of these pronouncements real. Customs Agents, custom facilities, new regulatory bodies for chemicals and medicines etc. You see any? I fucking don’t. All we got was Operation Brock which turned a motorway into a temporary lorry park and a morning drill at a disused airfield. The fucking French have built brand new facilities at Calais. Dublin also has new facilities. And they are still in the Single Market and Customs Union for crying out loud.

And then you have all this Brexiteer wibbling nonsense about the UK being their biggest export market so they must cut us a ‘fair deal’ because you know ‘trade’. Well no because a) as Brexiteers keep pointing out ‘its not just about trade’ which is equally true for the EU and its member states and b) the rest of the export business each member state does with the other 29 nations, including Norway and Switzerland, is way bigger and way more important than one single non EU country. Not to mention half of these EU nations do very little with the UK whereas they do shedloads with Germany because it’s a bigger market and that pesky thing called geography.

We will get what we get but the next three months is going to be UK posturing turned up to 11 with media ‘outrage’ as the EU declines to play along with it. It’s tedious, dull and predictable for the rest of us even if Brexiteers react with awed wonder as if seeing this movie for the first time.

I appreciate the time you took to post that. I'm not sure you realise that the folk you would most like to reach (were it not too late) will have switched off around paragraph two.
