I think it might be because It’s a false comparative - none of that was subliminal, it was explicit. There’s a difference between a head of state or the IMF giving their opinion to a country looking to destabilise other countries elections through flooding media with false facts.

Personally I find thinking they are a comparative far more worrying tbh as it sets it as equally justifiable. It isn’t. Forget the referendum or the 2019 election outcome, it’s not that that’s really on trial outside of for people that are too invested in those outcomes (from either side) that they’ve gone way past the ends don’t justify the means.

well you would make a fair point but the report says the Russians did not interfere with the brexit vote.
So the only way people were influenced was by the leaders of the various organisations and the US telling the UK which way to vote. Which was by in large remain.

It used to be the case that when there was an election in a country outside states would not interfere in the politics of that country . Unfortunately those days have gone.

I doubt very much that the report will say that the Russians did not interfere with the Brexit vote. It may say they have found no evidence.

Not the same thing.

they found evidence that they interfered in the Scottish vote though, eh Nicola

I am always amazed that people think the whole of the uk is on Twitter everyday . They are not. The vast majority of people are not on twitter or social media.

But - you are missing the big point.....................

One of these things - the overt support of Obama and all the rest for Remain and their attempts to influence the UK populace actually happened

The other - the influence of Russia in support of Leave - appears not to have actually happened and in fact was only ever an attempted smearing of the democratic choice of the UK electorate - simply because Remainers were/are unable to accept the democratic outcome.

Don't tell me that the Remainers are trying to present the budget as some kind of positive???

So now some EU members can get on with jumping through the hoops and committing to increased controls over their ability to act as independent states - all to get back some of the money they are now obligated to contribute.

The other nations - the net beneficiaries - can continue to take from the trough - but only if they also commit to increased controls over their sovereignty.

Meanwhile - we UK citizens can look forward to the UK not having to pay an obscene amount into this MFF and can take a lot of comfort that the UK government (this current one and any future ones) can act to steer the UK to recovery without being constrained by EU controls and without having to commit to increased EU controls

And the EU member states are somehow in a better position than the UK??

That would take some desperate and creativity spinning
No spin necessary unless you believe this shambles of a government are leading us in the right direction. Might be problems over on the other team but boy oh boy, we have some crackers heading towards us.

Last night the Tories won the vote which will deny Parliament the right to have a say over future UK trade deals..... our elected officials will now have less scrutiny over trade deals than when we were part of the Eu.

Trade deals have long been managed by the executive - crap attempt at distraction

Good morning Ivan ;-)

What fucking shite you post.

Yes, the executive manage the process but Parliament's have the final say.

Johnson and chums do not want Parliament having that say.

Parliament voted.

Its not Boris or the Tories fault there is no opposition lol.

Yeah its not like remainers haven't been banging the Russian interference drum the last 4 years is it?

With good reason.

Arron Banks’ Leave.EU campaign team met with Russian embassy officials as many as 11 times in the run-up to the EU referendum and in the two months beyond, documents seen by the Observer suggest – seven more times than Banks has admitted. The same documents suggest the Russian embassy extended a further four invitations to Brexit’s biggest funder, but it is not known if they were accepted.

It is the third time the number of such meetings has been revised upwards. For two years, Banks insisted his only contact with the Russian government consisted of one “boozy lunch” with the Russian ambassador.

After the Observer revealed a month ago that he had had multiple meetings at which he had been offered lucrative business deals, Banks told a parliamentary inquiry into fake news he had had “two or three” meetings.

Last week, when pressed by the New York Times, he admitted a fourth meeting. But the Observer has seen evidence that suggests there were at least seven more. When questioned about this, Banks offered no response.

Is that the same Mr Banks who the Met found literally no evidence against?

Keep throwing mud that simply wont stick.

The same one that breached multiple electoral spending laws and made the largest political donation in UK history and then lied to parliment about meetings with Russians. The met did not pursue it - they at no point cleared him. No further action does not mean no evidence.

For once you've got something right, our elected officials have just
