Know it? I thought that was their latest USP. Crap deal with the EU so we can do deals with countries that don't have a deal with the EU.
I'm not sure you get it. The economic argument in the short terms least is a shoe in for remain apart from the ammount we paid as one of the few net contributers. I'd actually even be open to considering the annual fee a fair price for peace in Europe and avoiding another war tbh. I didn't say anything yesterday when some were crowing about us not being part of the EU defence plans anymore as it didn't seem worth the bother - but that is exactly the sort of reason I want us out. EU defence is impotent and unlikely to ever do anything except start a new cold war with Russia that ultimately none of the EU states are prepared to fund. For most the EU proposals of 1% GDP just seems like an easy alternative to those nasty mean Americans asking us to fund peace on our own continent by increasing defence spending and NATO commitment by 2-4 times that figure.

Its soy sauce not soya....oh and most of what we buy comes from within the EU or China so this has virtually no impact - and these are the people negotiating

Im so proud to live in a country that celebrates the free movement of soy sauce , but removes the free movement of its own people.

Anyway, talking of stupidity...Truss is about to lay down the law to the US, EU and China with a lecture on free trade, while the UK Govt is working to put trade barriers and ‘a drawbridge‘ with Europe.

Nevertheless, in a direct reference to Trump's 'America First' policy, Truss will say "we will not be pulling up the drawbridge in an autarkic Britain First approach."

She will say the EU is an "innovation-phobic" protectionist institution that has held Britain back and, without naming China explicitly, criticise those who use state-owned enterprises to sell goods around the world as "mercenaries of global trade".

I think you’re right to some extent. If we get a deal that’s only a bit shit and means things don’t change much for most people then it will stay that way. On the other hand if it’s a really shit deal or no deal that makes people noticeably poorer, causes major job losses or makes life generally more difficult there’ll be a huge backlash from people who didn’t see it coming.
The prospect of a deal that puts us in a better position than when we were members is vanishingly small. Even the ultras know that.
a deal that puts joe public in a "better position" has never been on the agenda. Ever.
How could the EU even contemplate such a notion.
It's not even on the wish-list of the billionaires behind brexit, in fact the opposite is their aim, history proves it.

How to win friends and influence people. Her speech sounds like a post on here. Aimed at one audience (Daily Express and Telegraph in her case), not designed to appeal to the people we have to deal with. Four years of pissing off the EU now cooked in to dealing with the USA and China.

Especially a country that celebrates achieving the free movement of soy sauce from Japan when we currently have free movement of soy sauce from Japan as part of the EU trade deal with Japan. Sad state of affairs that they saw fit to tweet that. We have become an absolute joke of a country thanks to the patriotic Brexit con artists.

Farmers are stepping up action against the government’s refusal to protect British food standards in the Agriculture Bill from the threat of cheap food imports.

At 6pm this Saturday (31 October), 1,000 pumpkins will be carved out to spell “Save Our Standards” (SOS) and laid on Parliament Square in Westminster, London.

The action is being led by farmers’ union Landworkers' Alliance, which represents 1000 UK farmers.

Oh, and "Pick for Britain" was a failure and some of the fruit and veg farms are "on the brink" if they can't get the (EU) staff.

I won’t buy it now unless it’s free range at least. I don’t buy farmed salmon either because of the filthy industry it is. The only thing that will ensure standards are high and ethical farming of animals is the norm is consumer demand.

It's all a bit late though from these farmers isnt it ? The vast majority of them voted for Brexit !

You are aware that any trade deal with the USA ... removes any requirement for stating the quality of the item and country of origin on labels?

No I wasn‘t. That is so poor. I buy from a local butcher And fishmonger who knows the provenance of everything he sells but not everyone can do that.
Because their is no requirement to do it doesn’t mean though that supermarkets wouldnt label organic or free range Or ‘red tractor’ if the demand Is strong.
