France have said they don’t want a bad deal for their fishermen, but with a no deal they might have no access at all. I think the eu needed to compromise on some of these issues. They can’t expect to basically have full access to our waters for instance

I think the majority of the British public will be on boris’s side if he stands up for us.

Phone call between Johnson and UVL taking place soon...odds are it will be ‘no deal’ at the moment, but talks to continue.

The one rule of Brexit. There will always be talks. Much as some people want Europe ‘to disappear’ and probably everyone wants ‘Brexit’ to never be mentioned again (recall Johnson banning the word about ten months ago), we will always be talking to the EU and there will always be something Brexit related to be negotiated.

They don‘t. Macron signalled there would be reduced access weeks ago.

Totally correct. The rules were already there, the government wilfully ignored the rules to further their agenda.

Also Patel's deportation flights, the one that was due to leave on 2nd Dec had 36 people on it, 23 of those were removed from the flight because Judges considered the argument for them leaving required further scrutiny.

There is without doubt a section of brexiteer's who have used brexit to further their racist agenda. As James O'Brien says, "not everyone who voted for brexit is racist, but every racist voted for brexit”
That’s far too simplistic. I know people who are racist who voted to remain for reasons of economic expediency.

Agree we have had this before I think, Mr O’Brien didn’t think it through or believes his followers to be a bit dim.

It may be simplistic, but i reckon it is broadly accurate although there will be exceptions as even racists can of course care more about economic expediency than having a Somalian neighbour.

It’s not the neighbour it’s the Eu worker they employ.

Ahead of the referendum Cameron requested some concessions providing greater flexibility for the UK which may have helped avoid the referendum and leaving.

Herr Merkel the famous "libertarian" ignored these requests and sent Cameron packing resulting in a referendum. The trollop has taken an authorities stance on EU policy for years, I don't recall anybody in the UK voting for him (sorry, her).
Must admit at the time given the vote was indicitive I fully expected Cameron to go back with his mandate to renegotiate then put that to the people in a binding vote.

Well at least you will be happy;-)

I‘m very chipper.

But then I really expect Season 4 of this saga to finish in a sticky, fudgey compromise where everything rubs along as before but with more costs, paperwork and frustrations built into the barriers on our side.

Season 5 will be a gloomy art house project where Brexit becomes less of a dash for freedom, but the tale of a jobsworth governed province off the coast of Europe with an elite milking the public purse in corrupt deals.

Reality is crushingly mundane rather than dramatic as a rule.

Found this thread quite interesting. Suggests the two sides are perhaps not as far apart as many think.

My hope has been the past few days has just been bluster and rhetoric so that Boris can bring back a bunch of extra "concessions" to make it seem like a victory. That's all I can hold onto at this point.

Spanish Foreign Minister pointing out the obvious. Unfortunately, Brexit is an emotional case and involves shouting loudly about our ‘independence and sovereignty’, talking about reality ie an FTA is about managing our interdependency with Europe, doesn’t really register.
