Yeah that sounds correct based on what I’ve read.

Isn’t the vote via their parliament, rather than referendum?

Yes, a simply majority vote every four years to continue. If there is cross community support to continue then it will be eight years to the next vote.

As long as they're not in our waters, they can do whatever they like. The South China Sea is nice this time of year.
If there is a deal, they will be in our waters. Without a deal they lose access and we lose access to the main market for the fish we catch.

Ireland's solution is obvious. An autonomous and United Ireland loyal to the crown and part of a fully sovereign and independent United Kingdom.
England's solution is obvious. An autonomous and United Kingdom loyal to the Republic of Ireland and part of a fully sovereign and independent United Ireland and great Britain.

Is that actually part of the deal?

Forcing us to vote on a brutally contentious issue....raising tensions on the troubles we have successfully "resolved" .... all to appease "your" Brexit problem....the same Brexit we didn't want?

I may be wrong here but doesn’t the WA specify NI will remain in both CUs until there’s a technological answer to the border question, that will both allow NI to leave the EU CU but whilst maintaining the GFA?

That was my understanding, yes. For clarity I didn't bring up NI here. I asked for clarification because I feel the comment that "it doesn't have to last forever" is quite flippant/blasé.

This isn't to rehash the referendum: in my opinion we are all leavers now, bottom line = democracy > reduced economy

It's just to point out that the NI/IE border could quickly become a massive problem. The topic deserves far more consideration than it gets from most people and I don't like to see it dismissed out of hand like it's a footnote.

This is as arrogant and ignorant as any remainer or EU bureaucrat saying that there should be second referendum to override the first. You should be embarrassed.

I too believe it’s crucial to us moving forward, for one, the United States won’t deal with us unless the GFA is adhered to.

That said, we strike a deal here and the WA protects the GFA and things are ok.

If after the comment was explained to you you still feel it's flippant then your problem is more closer to home.
