The glaring error in Brexit - "Take Back Control of our Borders " - borders have two sides and those on the other side are tonight exercising their control over their borders as part of the EU. It is to the detriment of one former member sadly.

Two points of order here

1/France Netherlands and Belgium quick to ban us - errr...fishing......
2/ why the fuck would we do that? Despite advice to the contrary Johnson let people from all over the globe fly into the UK from March or fly through here as a hub - the UK track record indicates nothing would be done to stop people if it were to affect the economy.
1) Perhaps - but free movement of goods / people is still protected under the Withdrawal Agreement so that is a pretty serious accusation. If that was the reason I would expect a massive outcry from all of the legal experts /politicians / journalists at the breach of international law you are implying. I reckon its Covid.
2) A certain Mr Trump banned flights from China at the end of January, and got a lot of grief for it. Not a fan of his, but a stopped watch is right twice a day. They ought to be learning. But....

I've seen another couple of posts above and the thought our Govt has been caught off guard is shocking. Telling most of our population they are in Tier 4 because we now have a more virulent strain and not expecting other countries to react is crazy. Particularly when it is in the SE.

Personally I'm still waiting for someone to post details of the "viable walk-away option" so that it can be disected and discussed in detail.
Perhaps a willing "leaver" could help raise the level of the thread and oblige.
Or one could post details of the UK's plan for the UK fishing fleet that will come in to effect in 11 days, to tide us over until it's completed.
He seems to want No Deal, even if that proves that the EU has not moved (assuming the viable walk-away option is "No Deal"). Personally, if the German guy's explanation of the gap is right, I'd say the EU should move rather than have no deal at all on fishing rights. But then the UK should move so that our fish exporters can keep tariff-free access to EU markets. The only meagre consolation of No Deal is that the "viable walkaway option to force movement from the EU" will have been trashed as a negotiating ploy.

I suppose the worst case scenario for the UK would be if, deprived of herring caught in UK waters, EU countries develop a taste for cod and the Norwegians decide to sell it to the EU rather than to us.

Wait a minute, are you telling me that countries in the EU already have control of their own borders?! Surely not.

Yes but it isn't an EU thing, it is individual decisions of the member states. If there was a mutant strain in Spain, say, I'd hope we were shutting down flights to the UK from there. Makes sense.
The mutant strain was in Spain. We didn't shut down flights. Because Brits are invulnerable, world-beating scoffers at danger.
