Another new Brexit thread

@Ric why not close this thread on 1st January and open a new one called UK/EU new relationship. What a lovely start to a new year if we could drop all mention of Remainers, Leavers, and Brexit. Just a thought.
Well, it may be worth a new thread but whatever title (I'd go for "Shitshow or not?") I really can't see an era of sweetness and light, or people readily putting aside the differences on how we got here. "We all want the best for Britain" will come hollow if the car industry doesn't reverse the damage from leaving (and discussion of any plant closure becomes a to and fro between blaming Brexit and blaming electric cars).

Nah, I'll always be a "Remainer" (that's what I put on the ballot form) - the best I can hope for is that this deal minimises the damage. And the "never ending palaver" (Henning Wehn) will never end. See below.

A few months from now, I suspect that it will just be a group of Remainers - we could all probably name them

Anyway - thats me summoned to stuff the turkey - enjoy the day one and all
Much like Jacobite supporters in the late 18th and early 19th centuries they will gather together to discuss what is lost and rejoining whilst having a few beers and then humming an Ode to Joy to close. All whilst at the same time failing to realise that they are now a total irrelevance.

In any case, there's no extension transition - just provisional implementation from 1st January (and David Davies this morning reminding us of the Walloon region dejaying ratification of the EU-Canada deal).

As for never ending palaver, "Arbitration tribunal" is mentioned 300 times, and we are setting up 19 (parliamentary?) sub-committees, and umpteen panels, just to sort out our side of stuff - but it will be our bureaucratic red tape rather than EU red tape. I'm guessing that we will end up with more bureaucrats than the entire EU staff (plus customs officers).

Having spent the last hour reading the deal summary published on the number 10 website can I just say well done David Frost and Boris Johnson - only Leave "Nut Jobs" can think they're in any way hard done by. Remainers will of course complain that its not full fat integration we have now. But it looks a fair and equitable trade deal to me.

Yes, I think I can spot your first mistake...

It would actually be a good thing. But I think it will be an irrelevance only to those who don't want to know what's going on. And I suspect the Mail and Express will be the ones that don't want to let it go with everything "lost" coming as a surprise.

I could launch into (e.g.) farming issues (who's going to pick and pack produce, who's going to inspect slaughterhouses) but now that Brexit is "done" I'm sure many would think it a total irrelevance.

(Have we already established that the new thread will be for moaning about things and any posts from people who think it's irrelevant can be reported and deleted by the mods? Maybe there could be a separate Brexit boost thread.)

So two threads. A brexit pros and a brexit cons threads. Sounds fun.;)

Only another 1200 pages to read...

Who doesn't to be fair. My opening offer of a couple of hundred grand to fuck off early was rejected by HR. Maybe I was low balling?
That's were I am going wrong waiting for them to blink first
