Ante Coric

i think we are targeting these youngsters with a view to making a profit and selling them on. i mentioned this in another thread, we seem to relying on buying in our youth at the minute, id rather we had faith in some of the academy players we have.

All our squads at under 19 bar the EDS have excellent players, the recent buys are here for a reason they will not be sold

Sweet Johnny, I agree with the starting 11, tons of fight and passion in that so called mercenary side. Loved that side, that season. Still doesn't mean he did the youth and favours though.
I don’t think that was his remit. Nor should it have been. I think the job of the 1st team manager, whoever that may be, is to win things. If that means not bringing through the youth, so be it. And I always believe that if a player is good enough, he’ll break through. I don’t recall any of the Mancini-era youngsters being good enough. And I don’t see many from the current crop making it either. Just my opinion, based on what I’ve seen. Would enjoy seeing some of them make it and for them to be part of a successful 1st team, but, at end of day, totally not bothered if the 1st team wins shed-loads of trophies and there are no youngsters as part of that. I grew up watching Lake, Brightwell, White etc, all touted as great young things, all part of Youth Cup winning squad and they went on to win the square root of fuck all. I doubt Pep will be loading the 1st team with any of the EDS players unless there’s an injury crisis. And he’ll always have our owners’ deep pockets to help. We’ll see.

That's not very holistic Johnny

I understand your view to a point, but it has left us in the situation where we've highly paid, ageing players we want rid of but can't shift, due to their large wages and deficit in buying to selling cost.

Would love to see Coric at City. Great talent.
The only problem at the moment is that we have far too many of the old brigade that we cannot offload, thereby restricting us with squad numbers. Maybe buy now and loan back to the existing club for 12 months.

Yeah that could be an option. Yaya's contract runs out next summer so he could replace him?

Agree, and those that have left are playing for shite teams...other than suarez of course. If they're not good enough they won't play...

EDS (19-21 age group) lacks quality attacking players.

The best EDS age players are likes of Garcia, Angelino, Maffeo, Adarabioyo, Byrne, Denayer.

The lower age groups are where the really promising attacking players are
