So we've signed this guy for an undisclosed fee from Central Coast Mariners, Australia

anyone have any idea if he's going straight to Bolton?
 
Failing to see the point of this signing if he's just gonna be shipped out on loan. He's 23 if he's not good enough by that age then I question if he ever will.

I'm guessing he has effectively been bought by the CFG but registered at MCFC with no intention of him playing here but to be potentially loaned out to other English clubs to gain experience and then eventually go to play for Melbourne

Call me old fashioned but I'd prefer the players we sign to actually be of use to us not just so we can send them to our sister clubs.
 
He's absolutely a Melbourne City signing - though he may not go there for another window or two. He was bought because the A-League, like MLS, does not allow clubs to buy players off each other. They can only trade players or sign them at the end of contracts (probably why Aussie contracts are typically 1-2 years only).
