Antoine Semenyo | Considering triggering the £65m release (p13)

Do think a midfielder should be the priority, but not averse to adding a goalscoring winger either.

100% if we lose Gonzales we are cooked unless Rodri comes back and if he does he won’t be upto speed for a few games!

I’d offer big money now for either Anderson or Wharton! Pay extra for them now to bed then in..

Ideally yes, though think the midfielder we want probably won't be available until summer and can't see us buying a January stop gap.

So I can see Semenyo almost being a backup to if Nunes gets injured, still having width on the right. He can play both sides. He is Homegrown. He probably would accept joining a title challenging side as a backup at his age and brings physicality.

All while Marmoush and RAN (genuine attacking options) leave for a month and will test our squad depth.

At 65m it does seem so sensible?

I guess the main worry is if everything he is doing is just hot form, besides the United game he was on a poor run of form, but the entire Bournemouth team has been poor, so how much of that is the team vs just him?
He was good in the last games but just didn’t score. He literally scored 3 goals before this game but they were cancelled as offside and also because evanilson is a greedy fucker who thinks he needs to toepoke an already goal.

Semenyo is 25 by the way. „ At his age“ he is not 30+

Underlying stats not that good.

Doku and Savinho show similar stats (but Doku obviously better), showing that they are similar stylistically - probably due to what we ask of them and how teams set up against us.

Semenyo is nothing like them.

His stats would obviously change playing for us, but it's hard to predict how. Would he end up looking like Doku/Sav but with finishing? Or would he possibly not get the space and chances he does for Bournemouth. Can he cope playing with a lack of space?

I like him as a player and I'm not against getting him, but it's very far from a sure thing that he improves us.

He's a different sort of winger. Less about carrying and dribbling and creating and more about using his power and technique to just put it in the net.

If utd enter the bidding (and their fans want him, therefore the sports media want him too) then we will pull out.

If he chooses us over utd despite what city or utd offer him then he's a good choice.

We buy players who want to play for us, not to earn shed loads of money from a big club move.

He's a good player though, would replace a couple of names at City imo.

I know he is 25 that's why I wrote that.

Similar to when Nunes joined, he has played football and just needs to join an elite side even if not the main man.

Just counting, currently we have Phil, Doku, Cheeki, Marmoush, Savio, Bobb, Tijanni. So that's 7 for 3 positions. 5 for 3 now that Marmoush is off to ANC and Doku has a niggle.

At CM we have Nico, Rodri, Berny and Kova. 4 for 2 positions. With Rodri and Kova currently injured. So 2 for 2 positions.

Hence Anderson/Wharton over Semento/Ndiaye for January.
Also consider Haalands position so really 8 for 4, or 6 for 4 spots.

But too simple thinking because you ignored my biggest reason to buying Semenyo, any injury to Nunes immediately fucks us, regardless of the numbers.

Semenyo would be perfect to rest Nunes as a wide RW who brings physicality. His defensive numbers are insane for a winger.

Midfield is the priority for me as well, but I get this purchase now as a lot more sensible than I previously thought.

Yeah I get that, but is going to be able to play that way for us?

The teams Bournemouth face don't set up the same against them as they do against us.

He could do some damage though drifting across the frontline though, switching places with Foden, Cherki or Doku at times.

Played well last night but can't help thinking he can't be that good if Ghana haven't even picked him in their AFCON squad.
