If we are negotiating terms then yes it can take longer, if we decide to just pay the release then there is nothing Bournemouth can do to prolong anything.

I’m by no means an expert on this but I imagine it depends on their financial situation. If they’re sitting pretty for this fiscal with the recent sales of Huijsen and Kerkez, then installments may be preferable to realize income for future years.
 
Strange how the commentary on the ‘delay’ is that Iraola got his ‘own way’.

I’m sure it’s a City decision given it’s a release clause and if we wanted to activate and pay, we’d do it whenever we feel the need to.

There's every chance Bournemouth were willing to accept a staged payment structure that suits us instead of an all upfront fee, to have him for a few games during the busy period.

And given one of those is Arsenal, that it suits City as well and everybody is in agreement on everything, without it being anything to be concerned about.

Something proper dodgy went down with that deal.

He wasn't supposed to have a release clause, but MGW agent found one and told Spurs.

Marinakis threatened with legal action apparently.

Something like that.

What the full details are nobody knows, but either way, it will be a decent story to listen to when his career is over
 
Buyout clauses are never straightforward with Premier League clubs ?

City should say we have agreed on all the fees with buyout clause, now you have 24 hours or we walk away
