Antoine Semenyo | Medical at City Thursday - Sky (p230)

We still need a second striker if he goes then though?
Yes ,agree with that, which is why I think ideally we keep him until the summer. If we did lose him, maybe we’d use Semenyo as a false 9. That’s just a guess.
The Haaland thing is a very difficult one, no decent striker will want to come to City while we play one up front and have Haaland, unlike arsenal who have 3 players none of which are guaranteed a start because none are that good.So maybe the Haaland back has to be a false 9 solution.
Going back to Anderson just did a quick google and found this

“Relegation from the Premier League is probably the biggest financial jeopardy in world football,” Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish said in April.
“If you look at [Crystal Palace’s] turnover in the Premier League, it’s in the region of £175m. First season in the Championship it would be about £70m. There’s no amount of salary cuts for players you could bake in to cover that loss.”

That’s why I think there is zero chance they sell this window for any fee,not worth the risk.

Unless it allows them to strengthen in key areas as they are getting beat with Anderson there?

The risk of Palace going down this season is virtually nil. What is the relevance of Palace, and the effects of relegation, to a 2nd City striker?

Have we worked out where Cherki's best position is yet. I think he's played well as an inside right but if Semenyo plays on the right, that displaces Cherki to the no.10 and possibly Foden to the no. 8. Another possibility is thatif Semenyo signs, one of Semenyo, Foden or Cherki will be on the bench. Neither is a problem as we need a strong squad which allows us to make subs. and changes from game to game.

I have been watching Semenyo play for Bournemouth over the last couple of games and he is given license to roam at Bournemouth. He is moving from the right to up front but he isn't going to get that flexibility at City. I also think that one of his strengths is carrying the ball from deep. That works at Bournemouth because they are often under pressure and counter-attacking is a big part of his game. Semenyo is ideal in that role because he can hold the ball under pressure, and he can go both ways, and score. City do not counter-attack so much.

Savinho beats defenders continually but has a poor end product. The stats show that Semenyo has a better end product but I question whether at City he will be able to beat defenders as readily as Savinho does, and as readily as he does playing for Bournemouth. I am still in favour of City signing him, but I don't think it will be a transformative signing. My opinion of him has gone down a little since the transfer speculation started. I have been watching him and he hasn't played well in that time. Perhaps the transfer speculation has got to him or Bournemouth are in a very poor run.

When we were first linked with him I thought great, we are replacing a 0 goal winger for a 9 goal winger (over half a season) but that was probably a bit simplistic. I think Semenyo got a lot of those goals because he is afforded freedom to play where he wants at Bournemouth and because he fits Bournemouth really well. That might not be the case at City. I still want him to sign but I don't think it's going to change the course of the season.
I'm pretty confident his best position isn't as a RW. He's too slow.

I'm going to trust Pep to figure out how we can get as many of our top attackers on at once.

Correct. It’s now 2026 and some people are still wedded to the 1980s idea of a first XI that plays every Saturday, rather than a squad game playing every three days in a five sub era.
Finishers are now as important as starters
Pep will choose what he believes is the best team to win every individual fixture and those to come, as he has done since his arrival
So the more and best options we can give him to achieve that, the better

Palace was nothing to do with it, it was a quote demonstrating the cost of relegation and why Forest won’t risk selling Anderson, this window for any fee.

After City's recent win at Forest, don't think the Gravel-voiced Goblin would be too happy on Anderson leaving for the Etihad ?
He's a Geordie lad, so am guessing he will return to NUFC as would imagine at least one of Tonali, Bruno G & Joelinton will leave this summer...

Anderson will go where Anderson wants to go, as long as the buyer pays what forest want.

Not sure what his relationship us with Newcastle now.
He didn't want to leave but was " forced" to due to PSR.

Well it’s not like you to put a negative spin on something! Given how many clubs are supposedly interested in him don’t you think it’s strange that none of them have nipped in and paid the release clause?
That’s too insightful for this particular optimistic poster

If Forest decide to sell Anderson than I don't think Dyche will be a deciding factor on where he goes too. Same can be said for any manager at any club, when it comes to the next destination of departing players.

Not withstanding, given Forest's position and form, as well as the mental instability of their owner, how much longer will Dyche be there for?
