Antoine Semenyo

Dont know why there are some dreading him going to liverpool.

Wirtz and Isaak haven't worked out so far so there's nothing to fear with him going there. They have big problems in other areas of their team.

Wirtz didnt really make sense for them and neither did Isak after getting Ekitike, and Isak kinda sabotaged his start by downing tools at Liverpool

Liverpool are stacked on their left side, seems an odd deal, unless they’ll risk him being as effective down the right.

Keeping Semenyo, Ekitike, Gakpo and Isak happy won’t be easy.

Ekitike & Isak are strikers and Semenyo is an upgrade on Gakpo

I think we need to work out how we're going to integrate the £65m Omar Marmoush into the side before we think about spending the same again on another attacking player. He can't just be the bit-part Haaland backup for how much we spent on him. Savinho and Bobb should be our backups with us figuring out a Doku, Haaland, Marmoush, Foden/Cherki starting set up.

Savinho and Bobb are bang average on a good day though.

Of course someone will, maybe more of a negotiation on how it’s paid but in the scary world of football these days it’s a decent premier league player fee.

It basically says he's not playing that well.

The analysts on that site are good. It used to be ran by a guy called Ted Knutson, who set up a data company after using stats to help Brentford and Midjtylland overachieve, and made loads of money in gambling. He's not always right but definitely knows what he's on about (although that doesn't guarantee the analyst who wrote the article does).

A few quick thoughts.

Bournemouth plays a completely different style from us, and he has little to zero experience breaking down a low block setup from the winger position.
His strength from what I've seen is his ability to take a man one on one in transition, and use his physical gifts and talent to overpower people in transition.
I'm just hesitant to think he will get ample opportunity to do that here with how everyone plays against us.
Obviously, Nico has been a revelation, and the idea of Semenyo playing LW and cutting inside with Nico overlapping behind him is mouth watering.
It would be the most powerful left side attacking setup in world football with those two for years to come.
It would also allow us to play Doku more of the right side and not have to rely on Savinho so much in big games.

I do love him as a player, in my opinion he is Sterling esque with more strength and size to his game.
Bournemouth will likely want close to 80M to sell in January.
That is a large amount for an about to be 26 year old who has never played champions league football before.

Lastly, great that Ghana didn't qualify for AFCON, so he could hit the ground running right away for us into the busy season of New year fixtures.

This.. if Pep wanted this skill set, we'd have stuck with Carlos Borges Forbs

Set up StatsBomb didn't he?

Agreed, don’t think Marmoush was a great buy.

He has missed 9 of our 18 games so far this season through injury. Very harsh to judge him so far based off this season.

And as for last season. If it wasn't for his goals from January onwards, especially when Haaland was out for 2 months, we would be playing in the Europa League this year and maybe might not have been able to attract some of the players we signed in the summer.

Marmoush was worth the £60m alone for ensuring we finished in the CL places last season and setting us up to attract the required played going forward this season.

Yeah, that's him. Just been looking at a few other interesting articles about/by him.

This one, with a lot of background, and mentions how he first published his stats on the Bitter and Blue website, which I never knew.

And this one is an interesting one about setpieces - it's from 8 years ago, but it feels like half the Premier League managers have read it in the last year!

Do we have room, in our foreign quota? Unless Ortega goes.
Donnarumma
Ortega
Nunes
Gvardiol
Dias
Khusanov
Ait-Nouri
Nico
Rodri
Bernardo
Kovacic
Reijnders
Cherki
Savinho
Doku
Marmoush
Haaland

I've got 17 so fully booked but he homegrown so can be included as Lewis is young enough he doesnt need registering

Ake, Stones, Foden, Trafford, O'Reilly, Lewis, Bobb, Bertinelli are all homegrown

Ahh. I stand corrected. Thought he was foreign born. Different in the summer, of course. I like him but don't see where he fit's in. There's another thread for this. Apologies.

Semenyo has played more games as a centre forward, I think, but he's played across the front and as an attacking midfielder as well. That utility could prove significant, and I've often wondered if he could play elsewhere on the pitch, too.
He isn't a midfielder the way Foden, Cherki or Tijanni are. He is not a passer in that regard. He is a goal scoring wide player with athleticism physicality, a decent cross.

His ability in small spaces are still unproven. Granted that might not be as relevant in the latest version of Pep's Man City.

Personally, id lean towards someone like Ndiaye. But the objection to that will be that we already have players like Ndiaye in Cherki and Bobb while Semenyo brings a different type of edge. Even though Marmoush is kinda like Semenyo in that respect.

My present view is no. At least not for this season. And not Until we fully see where Savio, and Bobb end up. Both have serious potential. Lets let it play out.

It is worth noting that a mete 3 months ago Doku was also on the get rid list of many here.

Sometimes, we just have to let things play out before jumping to irrational conclusions.
