Antonee Robinson

As purely a back-up this is a great deal. 10 million is nothing and moving Mendy on pays for him.

This story comes from Alan Nixon who is a very reliable guy, despite working for The S*n. I’ve been following this guy on twitter for a couple years and he gets most of his stuff right. He’s been the first to report several City stories, including THBs loan to Blackburn. City definitely will have several bases covered this summer, but Robinson could definitely be one of our targets. A cheap low risk signing that could potentially turn out to be top class, and if he fails we should probably be able to recoup most of the money due to his young age, and we would still have Zinchenko, Ake and Cancelo who could play there. Makes a lot of sense to me, espescially if we’re spending big on a striker

Good player but they would want a fortune for him.
I could see us picking up an experienced specialist overlapping LB to complement Zinchenko’s inside full back style on the cheap. A solid 7 who would be willing to rotate. Someone like Gaya, Tagliafico or even Bertrand on a free. Or Grimaldo from Benfica if we fancied spending a little more.
Domestically, and looking at more long term potential options, the kid at Palace, Mitchell, has had a really good season but just signed a new deal. Justin at Leicester can play on either side and was great before his injury and Robinson at Fulham (another right footer who plays on the left) had a promising debut year in the premier league, though whether he will be good enough for us I’m not entirely convinced.
Off to check my lottery numbers…

Nixon is reliable, his reports on youth sale and loans are as correct as they get. Could be interesting move

Makes a lot of sense to me. Think its time to shift out Mendy, he would give Zinchenko competition for the LB spot. He's got experience from PL and international football and is still young. Also homegrown which would give us more flexibility with shaping our squad in the future. Signing another US national would also be good from a marketing perspective. For 10m it seems like a no-brainer to me, when we need to spend big on other positions in the squad. Worst case scenario he contribute as much as Mendy and it that case he would unlike Mendy be an easy sell in the future, since he won't be on huge wages. Best case scenario Pep helps him develop into something similar as when Liverpool signed Robertson from Hull.

Certainly has huge potential and long thought we could do with his pace and energy, but he is prone to rash challenges that the management would have to control.
