The tories left the long covid sufferers behind and labour dont seem to want to help them either. The clinics are too few and far between, travelling is not easy when you are that ill
In some ways it is similar to ME , the exhaustion and muscle weakness and muscle wastage and pain everywhere or that is fibro mixed in. The ways to cope with that are the same as some elements of long covid. The trouble is that when i was diagnosed with the above back in 1993 i only had one dr on my side, the rest said it was a mental problem. Whilst better understood now it is still difficult to find drs who get it
Of course with long covid you have organ damage as well, that is the new and most difficult element . I had covid lungs for over a year, inhalers, endless steroids and antibiotics, scans and tests , it seemed like it would never go away but in the end it did get better and i have been off all of that for a couple of years so there is hope there
My gp was a youngish fit man with long covid, organ damage was his heart, lungs and brain, he had to retire which was a real shame . It is real and it needs proper funding . Most people have forgotten how bad covid was and want to look away from it now but sadly there are tens of thousands of people still suffering
