I've already had a few off BT
PMSL. I'll be checking in on this thread later for developments.

Assuming you're all lads in the band... You lads have talent, you should ignore getting a vocalist and deliver your songs on a more post rock, driven, epic scale... So many bands of your genre ruin themselves by getting a whiney vocalist who's far to concerned with their own attributes than that of the whole band.

But... If you do intend on having a vocalist... Don't settle for anything, seriously.

Oh and, just out of interest, what is the name of your band, where are you from? And most inportantly where did yourecord and how much did it cost? Brilliant recording.

To be honest mate we're thinking vocals more a long the lines of Scott Weiland, Maynard James Keenan. A good vocal range, not whiney, just good actual singers who can gruff it up a bit (without shouting) to accent the heavier parts of the songs. We're very influenced by Deftones, Chimaira, Killswitch etc.

We're not gonna let any old twat join us. They need to be like minded to us and fit in. The four lads (2 guitarists, drummer and me, the bassist) are all go out at the weekend getting pissed in night clubs sorta lads, not your stereotypical long haired, slayer t-shirt wearing metal band. We want that image to be reflected - we want to stand out in the same way we believe our music stands out.

We're called Machinate (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.myspace.com/machinate" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.myspace.com/machinate</a> - though the one song on there is very old - the myspace will get re-done once we get a vocalist) and we're based in Milton Keynes (50 miles north of London). Made up of me the City season ticket holder, a Chelsea season ticket holder, a Spurs member (one of the many on the "waiting list") and another Chelsea fan - We all hate United!

And finally, the FANTASTIC thing is: Our guitarist, and my best mate records us, as he has his own studio. Yes, he is fucking brilliant at what he does. I don't know how well you know your British Metal scene, but he recorded The Eyes Of A Traitors album and None The Less - who are playing Download this year. Both of them are on MySpace as is my mates studio if anyone is looking into recording. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.myspace.com/easstudios" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.myspace.com/easstudios</a>

I'm sorry, i didn't mean to come off condesening in that post, if i did, i apologise.

You obviously know your stuff... Personally i'm not really ofé with the metal scene at all, i can only go as far to say that i like post rock really (*Shels, Explosions, Mogwai etc..). Maybe i'm a little bias in my opinion of you not needing a vocalist.

I can see where you're coming from though, if you had a powerful vocalist to underline the epic parts and someone who could lift the durge areas of your songs it would definitely work.

I'm not familiar with the band you mentioned but i've just asked a work colleague and he is. I'm told they're good, i imagine that is in part thanks to your bandmate... Who yes, by the sounds of things, shit hot at what he does.

...That leads me to my next point, surely knowing these guys within that scene should have given you the ability to network and find the right vocalist to suit? How big is the MK metal scene?

All in all, i can say that from listening to the track you've posted i'm massively impressed. And i'd like to wish you luck in the future, i'll be keeping my ears open.

Ps: you'd have lost all credibility with a rag in the band... sorry :)

Well I think in metal you need to have vocals to give it that edge and direction.

The MK metal scene is pretty poor to be honest. A lot of the better bands from round the south east (excluding London) are more based around Watford, St. Albans and other areas of Hertfordshire. Saying that, a band that we played with a few times (years ago) called Fell Silent have been touring America in the past year. Apart from that there's a few bands knocking about, but nothing which stands out as special... too many bands try and be over-technical instead of perfecting the art of a flowing song structure.

Thanks for the wishes, and I hope that we will blow a lot of ears open when we explode on the scene!

Have you listened to the other 2 tracks I posted later in the thread?
