Anyone claiming PIP?

My sister claims it. Aged 60 (3 years ago) she got letter to say stopping it as deemed fit for work. She has dementia and some days doesn't even know what day it is. She has a rare blood disorder which means her body struggles to create white blood cells so prone to infections etc which she can't fight.

She was put on job seeker's allowance and was told if didn't show applications for work her money would be stopped

We disagreed with the decision and asked for an appeal.

18 months of fighting and on day of the appeal I faced a panel consisting of Benefits office Dr and lawyer plus member of committee who'd made the decision. They said they were rejecting the appeal due to fact we'd no evidence she couldn't work. She was sitting in next room and they refused to speak to her. If they had they'd have realised what an error it was. Our options were accept the decision or ask for review. I said if I accept she will commit suicide (she'd attempted it previously when she hadn't applied for enough jobs and was told getting no benefits).

I asked for review and 6 months later the PIP got reinstated with her getting her money backdated. I'd been sending her money every month in those 18 months as she couldn't afford to heat and eat

OP, good luck on your journey and hope you get satisfactory result. Go to citizens advice and don't take no for an answer
Horrible that for you mate

Fill out the questions on the form thinking it’s the day when you’ve felt at your worst with your ailment.

Don't you still get pip if you work ?
We have a lad on about 25k per year. He says he also gets £300 a month pip.

He is actually better of then the lads that do the work ! He isnt capable of doing anything apart from litter picking
Lot of ignorance about PIP.
It is not work related.
It is not means tested.
So yes, you can be in full time employment and receive it if you qualify.
Even a millionaire.

No, my daughter had a brain tumour at the age of two that left her visually impaired and permanently partially disabled down one side.
She is an adult now.
I’ve done her forms for her ever since.

Happy now ****?
No need to get all shity, it was tongue in cheek as you said you had been doing it "for decades" for family members, what did you expect ?

By the sounds of it your daughter has her disabilities for life but they still make you fill the forms out every few years it's should be awarded for life.

He might not be able to do tasks that you and I could do and things like travel on public transport alone. The PIP allowance helps pay for things like taxis or gardeners because they can’t use a lawnmower or hedge shears. Not everyone in general, but some. When it’s used for what it’s intended it’s a good thing.

PIP doesn't stop if fit for work.

I think you are getting mixed up with ESA.

Yea mate, she'd a form. No idea who signed it, where it came from, it said her children never mentioned her having dementia or memory issues. She doesn't have any children
Tut tut.
Just glad they've reinstated it for her mate

When filling in the forms, answer the questions based on your worst day.
Make copies.
This all day long, I would also use the online forms as you can go back and make corrections and additions when a question further on makes you realise you cocked something up. I've had to do it for the wife for many years and they really can be soul sapping.

Edit: We had a review once where the bitch behind the desk asked the wife if she needed a drink of water, this was after walking us around and around the corridors. She went and got one and handed it to her from behind whilst the wife was sat down. Because she didn't toss the filled to the brim plastic cup over herself she marked her down on the computer and we lost part of her claim, never to get it back. They will try every trick in the book.
