For me, that was a lot of money to spend on a watch. Even if I won the lottery, the thought of spending, what, 30-40k on a watch would horrify me. My everyday work watch is a Casio Duro (€50), and I doubt any Rolex, Omega or Cartier watch would be any more reliable.

I'm not convinced I'll ever get the call as it's the VIPs and people with purchase history that get them I expect but it cost me nothing to add my name... Time will tell if I ever get the nod

The Duro is a beast. Got a US import Pepsi dial 2 years ago and it's just so accurate and easy to wear. If I accidentally scratch it, it's £50 to replace it, it's my go to for day to day wear

If you've got Mansour type money and rich enough not to take off your Vacheron Constantin or Patek Phlllipe when you rub one out over our trophy collection, I can see why you'd want one for the drawer.

Watches are addictive once you get into them, and a LOT of people, not necessarily rich, are into them, there are roofers walking around Salford with a year's wages on the wrist...

But still.. for £15k you could get several Rolexes, Tudors or Omegas that look really nice and you could pass onto your kids, or the pawnbroker if you need cash quickly...and there's this looking like it came with a Happy Meal.

Still using my Casio AE-1000W World Time, 5-Alarm special.

I pretty much use all the functionality bar a couple of the alarms. The world time function is proper useful for setting the destination airport time zone when I'm back and to over the Atlantic for work. It's never let me down in the 7 years I've had it and I haven't had to change the battery yet. I think it cost me about 20 quid from Argos. It's a bit scuffed up these days, but absolutely nobody is going to want to steal it. If they did, they can gladly have it.
