lol yeah , my mam used to say if there was none left when we was kids ,the rags had won

True my dad would only buy it if we hadnt lost, so was quite a few games in between me reading it, at least it was unbiast though, lol

The Football Pink used to hit the streets before 6 pm on a Saturday. I always used to wonder how they got it written so quick with all the match reports and scores.

The Football Pink R.I.P
Was moved to sundays then the MEN stopped making it(poor sales, football being played every day of the week, the internet)
If a game wasnt finshed by 4.50pm the result was always L-L!!
Happy days!!

Used to wait on Silk St for the van itchin to check the tables

Got the tenner letter once still at me mams

I remember it well mate, it was on sale outside the ground after a game at Maine Road. (many years ago)

used to love going to pick up the pink on a saturday evening, with dozens of blokes all shuffling around the shop looking at their watches saying "where the hell are they?" as the clocked reached ten past six. i've kept the very last copy as a memento. them were the days.

Yeah I remember the pink.

I used to love it in the pub when they'd send a fella round selling the pink after the match on a Saturday. The seafood man always used to follow the pink final man around hoping that people buying the pink would also buy crabsticks !!!

Do you remember the mobile printing press parked near the souvenir shop at Maine road?

Me too. Quite often it was already available when I got back to Piccadilly Gardens after bussing it from Maine Road. All the results already printed.

Now that is impressive.

A lot of the so called results were latest scores so you often got a surprise when you opened the Sunday paper! I guess this pink couldn't wait for Matt Busby Time!

Towards the end they moved it to a Sunday paper - which was a joke - its whole appeal was reading it on the way home.

I guess in the mobile phone / internet age there is little point we all know the scores by 5:00pm.

Obviously a lot of the material was written during the week but the match reports were thrown together centred on the first half and the spelling etc was legendary almost as good as the Guardian!

Half the full-time scores were always missing replaced with the score and the word LATEST. They used to print them in the van on the concourse near the souvenir shop (the scores that is, not the entire 'paper).

So Sky destroyed the pink, should of realised it would be some rag loving thing that would ruin it for all us normal time supporting fans, lol<br /><br />-- Tue Mar 16, 2010 8:37 pm --<br /><br />So Sky destroyed the pink, should of realised it would be some rag loving thing that would ruin it for all us normal time supporting fans, lol

We used to get the 123 from Maine Rd back to Victoria, old guy used to sell 'em outside. Not a clue what he used to shout, you always got covered in news print.

I remember The Pink. Brilliant! As has already been said, I would go to the newsagents about 6pm on a Saturday to buy it.... if City had won. Is my memory playing tricks or did they even have a "page 3" style picture in there too. I think I started "collecting" such artwork and hiding it in the shed when I was about 12 and I'm sure some of 'em were on pink color paper! lol

It had a 4 page section on City and another on Utd. One page for other greater manchester clubs.

There was a spot the ball competition that I think has been exposed as fixed?

Speedway. fishing section, darts.

Time on the bus home used to fly by.
